1  Angry bird beanbags in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Geek on: May 14, 2012 06:05:47 AM
A good friend of mine is in the process of making a gaming room so for Christmas I made him some Angry Bird beanbags. They were a great success and I have been instructed that I need to make some for our house Smiley
I've finally got the photos off of him (as I forgot to take them when i'd finished).

They took a lot longer than I thought they would to make and they broke my sewing machine twice! You can't really tell on the pictures but the red one does have feathers on it's head and a tail. The pig is the size of an average beanbag and the bird is HUGE! It's 16 cu Feet, 9.5 feet around and 40 inches high!

Onto the photos.

The bird

The pig

Both together

Trying them out

4  Angry birds cake in Dessert by Geek on: July 24, 2011 02:51:32 AM
So my boyfriend is obsessed with Angry Birds (I am aswell) and after seeing the playable Angry Birds cake on electric pig months ago I knew I had to make him one for his birthday.
He's been asking for weeks what his cake was going to be and I managed to keep quiet about it and make most of the pieces while he was at work, luckily I'm on maternity leave or I would never have got them all finished. So on Saturday afternoon I sent him to the pub so I could put it together without him seeing and he loved it Smiley It was a great hit at his party, everyone wanted to have a go.

Onto the pictures...

In all it's glory, it was about 3-4 foot long Smiley

The birds

The pigs

And after playing with the cake

I'll post the video of him playing it when I can find the lead for his camera Smiley

I received one of my packages yesterday (we agreed to send 2) Smiley

Here is a photo of everything in all it's glory =]

So far we've tried everything apart from the Pop Tarts (I realised I haven't bought a toaster yet lol) the Magic Shell (I forgot to buy ice cream Sad ) and the Butterfinger.

My boyfriend has eaten about half the Lucky charms already, it is his birthday though so I don't mind. It's the first time i've tried them because I don't remember them from when they used to sell them over here and they're delicious! I think I'm definitely going to have to treat us to another box or two off ebay at some point. I don't think the Ranch dressing is going to last very long either, we both love it Smiley

Scifunk also sent me 3 little Mario embroidery's  which I love, I'm going to frame them and put them up in the baby's room (were having a nintendo themed nursery Smiley ) For some reason though they haven't uploaded from my phone so I'll go and try again to get them on here now.

This is going to be quite a long post, I finally figured out a way to upload photos straight from my phone as I haven't been able to get them onto my computer. I'll start with the most recent package I received.

I received a great package yesterday from Skittlebub.

First up were two crocheted newborn hats which I love Smiley I'll have to post action shots once bump makes an appearance.

Then there was an amazing bib, it's so cute and my Other half says it's his favourite thing I have for bump so far.

I also received from meganlorraine last week, yet another amazing package. I got really spoiled again Smiley

She made me a Kindle cover in the greatest owl fabric, I've wanted one of these forever and she did an amazing job on it. The pictures don't show the colour very well, it's a deep purple and bright blue IRL.

She also sent me a really cute notebook, some sewing patterns and some Sharpies! Smiley I really can't wait to make the apron, I've wanted a cute apron pattern for a long time so I think I'm going to treat myself to some nice fabric to make it.

I received 2 packages last month that I wasn't able to post pictures for, I managed to get some now though Smiley

A2K sent me some lounge pants (with a bump panel!) I love the fabric she used and these are the comfiest things ever. She was even kind enough to include some of the fabric so I can take the bump panel out for when I'm not pregnant anymore.

She also sent me a bunch of fabric scraps, the flowered ones are my favourite (and they're the biggest pieces Smiley ) If bumps a girl then I'm going to make something for her with those 2, if not then I'm going to make something cute for myself.

Lastly (but not leastly Smiley ) Redstar13 sent me a great supply package, she sent me a ton of the colours I need for my pokemon crossstitch and some great scrapbooking papers, you can't really tell in the photo but they're all bumpy.

I made this for the Craft my Wists swap, it's a pillow case for a super long pillow.

I started off stencilling it but ended up painting the top layers as the freezer paper wouldn't stick properly.

I recieved the most amazing package today from Opalgryphon Smiley

First up is the rose cushion cover she claimed me for. I love it and will go with my new living room perfectly.

She also sent me a couple of extras - this amazing newborn mohican hat from my wish list, I can't wait till bump gets here to try it on. I will definitely post action shots when he / she arrives. Until then though these will have to do, I tried to get a good picture.
It's so soft and I love the colours, I want one for myself now aswell Smiley

Lastly she sent me the cutest bundle of fabric scraps to start my rainbow quilt. I love how it was tied together and I can't wait to start sewing with it.

Everything had a lovely little note on aswell (which made me realise I think I forgot to include the notes I wrote in the packages I sent)

Thank you so much Opalgryphon, I love everything and you really made my day.

9  Re: Pokemon bookmarks in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Geek on: May 05, 2011 10:09:52 AM
These are so cool... I  may just have to do something interesting with my 1000+ pokemon cards. Smiley Are two identical cards used on each bookmark?

Thanks, no I just used an energy card for the back as I have about a million of them. You can use any card for the front and back though.

ack send me all your pokemon! don't craft with them lol

Sorry about that... the bookmarks are very clever, it just hurt my brain for a sec. We have a pokemon obsessed 10 year old here and it pretty much revolves around the cards in my house!!

Lol, I'm Pokemon obsessed too. Most of my cards are staying firmly in my collection but I have a lot of damaged ones, energy cards and loads of common spares so those are the only ones I'm using. I couldn't bring myself to cut up any other ones ever I don't think.

Those are so great!  I'm a little boggled by how it's done, but it's ingenious!

Thanks, I've made a crappy paint drawing to show how I did it.

You start off by drawing three squares then lay your pokemon card sideways across the bottom one and draw around it (pink area) Make the two top squares into triangles and cut it all out (pink and blue areas)
Score along the lines and fold the two triangles inwards, glue your pokemon card to the top triangle and cut off the excess. Glue this onto the bottom part of the bookmark then just glue the 2 triangles together and glue a pokemon card facew down on the back.

I hope that made sense Smiley
