1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Camp out Fingerless Mitts easy and good for new pattern readers on: February 26, 2012 05:42:24 PM
I found this pattern on ravelry for Camp out Fingerless mitts. It was a good pattern for beginners, although I do feel that using double pointed needles were beneficial to the ease of this.
The abbreviations I didn't know I looked up on you tube.

The color variation is from Norro silk garden yarns.
2  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Zombie tree skirt or table topper on: January 18, 2012 02:51:56 PM
I thought I should put this in xmas, however you could start early and decorate starting with Halloween since it is Zombies! Here is a tree skirt I made for a swap. It is a build up of felt and then quilted down in place. Gluing it down would be just as good, but I liked the three dimensional effect it gave to it. I was inspired by one extra foggy morning and the color change of the fog.

3  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Upcycling old luggage on: January 18, 2012 09:36:18 AM
Here's a link to what I am doing with old luggage jewels. Time to recycle those jewels and make them functional once again.
Happy crafting!
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Upcycle old luggage for craft storage on: January 18, 2012 09:32:16 AM
I am in love with vintage luggage but kept passing it up due to no use for them. I found this idea for upcycling floating around pineterest and went to work. I purchased an old structurally sound box (I think it originally held a typewriter).  I painted it. then measured the inside to cut out cardboard for the bottom and sides. I covered the cardboard with fabric, add a pocket to the lid portion by sewing a few stitches to the lid heavy cardboard. Then hot glue gunned it all in place. Here is the finished product.
This now houses all my embroidery craft items in one place for easy transport.

Here is a flute case I found and now am using it for my long knitting needles.

I will no longer pass up these jewels at the local thrift store.
