4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Dress---McCalls 5094 View D on: June 06, 2011 05:24:04 PM
I made this dress this week for a friend's wedding and a night out with my man.

I chose a reproduction print that is 100% cotton.  It is pretty hard to see in the photos.  The dress is dark purple squiggle lines outlined in red.  The dress is fully lined in a coordinating red cotton.

I chose View D, without the bow.  I cut the pattern out according to my measurements against the pattern suggestions for sizing.  I had to take in the dress when I was finished with it through the bodice and I had to shorten the straps by about an inch.  I would recommend a muslin fitting first if you plan on fully lining this dress like I did.  After I took it in the finished inside wasn't as pretty.  From the reviews I have read about this pattern, this seems typical for this pattern and others suggested using your upper bust measurement...too bad I didn't see this until after I was done!  LOL.  I still am pretty happy with the way it turned out.

Things I would change:  A longer zipper!!!  I would also cut the bodice atleast a size smaller and shorten the straps.

Here is the dress!

I would love feedback!
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / my first hat and my graduation beyond potholders on: November 07, 2010 02:08:02 PM
I made this from the Simple Crochet Beret pattern by Barbara Summers.  It is really easy and works up pretty quick.  I used Malabrigo yarn--Malambo.  My first wearable garment! Grin Grin Grin

6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / My attempt at a baby blanket :) on: September 21, 2010 09:30:32 PM
All of my friends are having babies right now!  I made this blanket in June and still haven't gotten to the part where I applique the baby's name on the blanket!  I am not certain what color to use for that.  Any suggestions?
