1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Pretty shoulder bags - stripes and floral (lots of pics) on: March 04, 2008 09:40:30 AM
I made this bag as a practice run, but love it so much I've been using it every day! You can't see as I only have bad photos, but I lined it with gorgeous William Morris fabric.

I then used the same idea, but changed lots of elements for this bag, which was a Mother's Day gift for my mum.

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Two vintage-style evening bags (pic heavy) on: January 17, 2008 08:45:52 AM
Neither is quite finished - they're both unpressed, the green one is missing a button, and the bow on the black one needs finishing off. They're dinky little things, but so sweet.

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Whirlaway dress made from curtains (or, My First Dress) ;) on: December 11, 2007 09:50:55 AM
I used the Simplicity pattern for the retro whirlaway dress that lots of people here have used, but didn't put the bias tape on as I thought there was enough colour in the dress already. It's a little big, but I do love it. It's also made from curtains, so my husband doesn't like it  Grin
I'm pretty proud of my first ever dress.

Oh, and here are the curtains in all their glory  Grin
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Yoga mat bag - pretty pastels on: November 27, 2007 06:03:25 AM
Rather than struggling home with my mat under my arm, as I had to do last week (why do strangers feel the need to comment  Roll Eyes) I decided to make a carry-bag for my mat. I also left space at the bottom, so I can fit my towel too. The purple fabric on the outside is a pocket for keys, wallet, mobile phone and suchlike.

No pattern, but very easy to make.

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Totebag in Toyland on: November 26, 2007 06:22:55 AM
Here's a super-easy tote bag I put together as part of a Secret Santa gift. She said she likes quirky, colourful things, so I think this will fit the bill  Wink
Instead of making proper handles, I used ribbon (due to time constraints and lack of fabric, but I love the cheeky, bright red!) as it's only for bits of light shopping and suchlike.
I'm in the middle of a similar one with a fairytale theme for another friend, as they're just so easy to do.
It's not lopsided - that's just the way it's hanging  Cheesy

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Nautical touches on my first ever project on: November 11, 2007 06:49:32 AM
Until a month ago, I had never used a sewing machine, but love clothes and always wanted to learn.
This is my first ever sewn item - it's based on a Simplicity pattern but was reasonably complicated (for a total beginner).
I messed up the waistband but since I probably won't wear the skirt I'm not going to start it over, and I know where I went wrong (that's how I learn - by making stupid and time-consuming mistakes that I don't bother to correct  Cheesy). And I taught myself how to make a pocket yoke, insert a zipper, insert pockets, do darts and pleats, and read a pattern.
It's still unhemmed and unpressed, but I'm quite proud, considering  Wink
Thanks for looking!
