1  Adventure Time : Jake cake in Dessert by enoa on: June 01, 2014 10:01:33 AM
My step-son recently discovered Adventure Time and fell madly in love with that strange creature they dare to call Dog.
Here is his birthday cake  Smiley

He asked for a strawberry cream cake, which isn't very compatible with fondant, so I covered the whole thing with thin sponge cake.

(It broke anyway, the cake leaked, it was awful.)

Thanks for wathing !

2  The Nounours patch in Needlework: Completed Projects by enoa on: April 23, 2014 01:59:44 PM
Hello people !

Here is my first attempt at punch needle, I wasn't sure about the result but I think it came out ok (if we forget about the yellow ears...)
I finished the edges with the sewing machine, next time with more patience it will be great  Grin

(Before cutting the little threads)

Thanks for watching !

3  The Nounours cake in Dessert by enoa on: July 06, 2013 11:39:49 AM
Hello everyone !

Here is my second attempt at fondant. This is my boyfriend's birthday and he asked for something looking like his old "mascot" he drew years ago, so I worked on photoshop to cut templates from the original picture.

and the original drawing :

I had a lot of trouble painting on the fondant, since the icing colors almost didn't dry at all. Next time, I'll also try to figure out how to make the ears =)

Thanks for watching !

4  Fight Club mold and soap in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by enoa on: June 10, 2013 03:02:44 AM
Hello everyone

I promised a friend ages ago I'd make him a Fight Club soap, except that when I finally found the motivation, surprise ! The "mold" I found on the web wasn't actually a mold but an actual soap, I don't even know what happened in my head when I made the mistake. I searched for hours after that, only to find out that 20th Century Fox had made every homemade mold disappear from Etsy and similar websites.

So, I PROMISED. Too bad. Here is my DIY mold, and as you will see... that's a makeshift job. But it turned out not so bad, I hope you'll like it !

The sides aren't straight, it's a bit "shiny" because of the gelatin, but it could be worse =)

The logo has to be in embossed letters, so the mold is made in imprint.

12 layers of cardboard glued together. The cutter gave me blisters on my fingers -_- At first, I tried to cut into a thicker piece of cardboard, but I couldn't cut well the details and difficult parts, so I gave up.

gelatin + sugar

Makeshift job, I told you. This was a huge mess, I lost half of the batch... this was a BAD idea.

I can't wait to give my friend his gift, he seemed really excited when I showed him the pictures.
And if you guys have a better idea to make that kind of project, please oh please, tell me everything  Grin

Thanks for watching !

PS : English isn't my mothertongue and I used some specific words in this post, I hope I picked the right ones ! I'm sorry if you had trouble with some of my sentences, I do my best to get better  Wink

5  Toy Story birthday cake in Dessert by enoa on: June 03, 2013 03:33:23 AM
My boyfriend beeing really clumsy at baking, I decided to make his son's birthday cake myself (poor kid, last year he had to eat a brioche with baking powder instead of baker's yeast, it was awful.)

So this was my very first attempt at sugar paste, and I think it turned out pretty well  Smiley It took me 10 hours to finish it (I must be the slowest girl on earth), starting from a pattern made on Illustrator. I think the cream I used was too damp because the icing started to melt before my guests arrive, but I managed to clean the mess. I hope my sweet stepson liked it ! (yup, the squawking was obviously more for the gifts than for the cake  Grin )

Thanks for looking !
