I want to sooo bad, but... Im allergic to metal. Kinda takes jewelry of the table for my partner. Unless she'll coat every bit of metal with a clear coat or clear nailpolish. Which is a lot of work. Since I'm prolly such a huge challenge, should I bother?

Maybe by the time we do this (yeah, prolly wait until after holidays to do it) you'll have the skills! I believe in you!!
4  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Old School Queen of Hearts!! (Over 3000 inches of ruffle!!) PIC HUGE!!! on: November 02, 2010 11:13:39 AM
So we all know the biggest themes of the season - - Lady Gaga and Alice in Wonderland a la Tim Burton. I'm too curvy to be Gaga (comfortably), so I of course opted for Wonderland. But I wanted to do the old school cartoon we all fell in love with! I didn't wanna be Alice, she's too sweet to be sexy in most cases. Cheshire Cat sketches left WAY too many designs to choose from, and I was in a time crunch (had to finish by the 23rd for my 20th bday party!). So I chose the Queen of Hearts! Here's my final piece! ((Sorries for the blur and ugly face - -it was sooooo cold!!))
I made EVERY-STINKING-THING!! Except the necklace, but I did have to craftily fix a broken chain in the back. Even the boots, the seams were ripping so I had to sew them together, mostly by hand. BEHOLD!!

I wanted a short skirt, since I was wearing it to my bday party and wanted to feel sexy. I disliked the black/orange/yellow underskirt, as it was waaaay too heavy, so I got rid of it and replaced it with a light airy tutu I whipped up just before the party. The collar I made just looked funky, and the first white top I made got spilled on, so in all my pics I'm wearing this butterfly-sleeve type shirt dress I made the week before.

First I made the corset. Here are some in-progress shots. ((If anyone cares for a more detailed explanation on how to make one of your own, just say so!))

Then the skirt! I went for a burlesque victorian bustle (cuz the word 'burlesque' guarantees sexy!!). Again, if you want more specific instructions to make one of your own, just say so! Basically there's a simple waistband, to which I sewed four panels of varying width. The bottom one is over 2 yard long in total!! I made ruffles by cutting 5 yards of white fabric into 2-inch strips, hemming one edge and gathering the other by hand. I did the math - - it's well over 3000 inches of fabric when flat! Ruffled, it's 1080 inches! Just of ruffling!! So I made those and stitched them to the hems of each panel. There was a lot of sergeing and cleaning up on the skirt, loose threads and all. Here's the only two in-progress shots!

And here's a few shots from my party! Hope you liiiiike!

Me and Catwoman (Aspiring Next Top Model contestants!!)

Me and Dr. Manhattan (I painted his back half, and made him wear pants!)

Me scolding Dr. Manhattan for trying to squid dance on me, and if he gets blue on me I swear I will KILL HIM!!

My general sexiness as the queen of your heart!

Eeeexcellent point! I didn't even think about the holidays. I'm quite the Scrooge so I don't think about that. But you make a very valid point!

7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Another Gibbous Swap? <3 on: October 28, 2010 10:18:30 AM
I mean, the main thread got over 60 pages, and the gallery has 25. Like, that sounds like it was a really darn successful swap. And I've been working on a few gibbous things of my own and I think it'd be really great to swap gibbous-inspired goodness again. Especially since I wasn't around when it went down the first time. I'd totally organize, but I haven't done my second swap. In fact, I'm only just going to get feedback for my first one on October 30th. The next swap I'm planning to sign up for ends early December, so if we can wait another 7 or 8 weeks, I can organize. Or co-organize if it's that big. And I think it would be pretty big, the first one had 22 participants and gibbous popularity has risen since then! So I want another gibbous swap. Anyone else want one like meeeee? <3

((For anyone who doesn't know what gibbous is, its basically incredibly epic scrappy fashion. In a nutshell. You can search 'gibbous' here on craftster for things inspired by Selena Gibbous' work. Here's the link to the Gibbous homepage, you can find out all about it there. http://www.gibbousfashions.com/))

9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Handmade Victorian Fall Wedding! *pic heavy!!* on: October 20, 2010 08:01:10 PM
Wow. Like wow. I always told my mom that when I got married, I'd have to do something purple and copper and she always said it'd be weird and not look good and be really hard to pull off and now I could show her this thread and be like, BAM!! Cuz that's amazing, everything, not just the color scheme. Your dress is stunning, and I love your groom's coat ((beware to the guy who gets on one knee for me!!)) And I'm head over heels for the photo booth. Honestly, your whole wedding is spectacular. If I could pick a wedding to copy, whenever that happens for me, it'd be yours. And that's saying a lot.
10  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Days of the Week Undies #2 (SIGN-UPS: 18 Oct - 31 Oct SEND OUT 8 Nov & 10 Dec) ) on: October 20, 2010 06:33:37 PM
I would LOVE to do this, but I'm still in my first swap - - October Birthdays. So it doesn't end until Nov. 1. Is that close enough to the deadline for me to inch my way in? (>o.o<) ((That's my 'hopeful' face!))
