1  Lots of recent projects (img heavy) [hats, amigurumi, plushie] in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by shaylajane on: December 08, 2010 11:32:02 AM
Haven't posted in a while, so here's some stuff I've done lately!

An earflap hat for my little brother. It's hard to tell, but it's black and bright bright lime green.

A green mesh-type skullcap, which unfortunately turned out a little too big

Off white earflap hat (my first project made without a pattern!) I wanted to add pompoms, but it didn't work out for me.

Black and white cat hat (also made without a pattern  Grin)

Mario mushrooms for my boyfriend, made with Wolfdreamer's pattern

Adipose baby amigurumi for my boyfriend. The pattern is from Ravelry.

Weird pigeontoed Snorlax for my boyfriend (Plushies are obviously not my strong point!) Also Wolfdreamer's pattern.

Snuggling his new Snorlax, also wearing a Chowder hat I made for him

Cat hat for my boyfriend's mom. I also made her a bear hat but forgot to take a picture.

2  Chowder hat in Crochet: Completed Projects by shaylajane on: October 26, 2010 08:02:11 PM
I'm gonna be making at least three of these. This one is for my little brother, then I need to make one for my boyfriend, and then finally one for myself  Grin

The pattern can be found at http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/slouchy-grouchy-chowder-hat

The only thing I don't like is the color. I wish I could've found a slightly lighter purple. But oh well!

3  Cotton Candy Tam in Crochet: Completed Projects by shaylajane on: October 18, 2010 08:03:02 PM
I started out wanting a beret, but the one I tried wasn't looking right, so I made a tam instead  Smiley

I used pink and blue Caron Simply Soft held together (hence the name "Cotton Candy"), and here's the pattern I used: http://crochetncrafts.com/rastahat.html

(Sorry for the uber crappy pics, I really need a camera!)

4  My first yarn falls! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by shaylajane on: October 15, 2010 10:23:09 AM
I've spent years drooling over all the falls I see online, and since I started crocheting recently and have lots of yarn around, I figured I'd try making some of my own!

They're just very basic... I'm too scared to try dreads yet.

(I just kinda sloppily put them in 'cause I was excited to see how they looked!)

5  I call this one the Powerpuff Girl hat (a little img heavy) in Crochet: Completed Projects by shaylajane on: October 07, 2010 08:45:50 PM
I knew before I even started crocheting that I hate to make my own version of April Draven's convertible hat. So here it is!

This one doesn't show the colors very well.

My hair isn't long enough to put through the top yet  Roll Eyes

I'm REALLY proud of this. I love the colors and I think it's very "me".  Smiley

6  Fingerless gloves to match my hat! in Crochet: Completed Projects by shaylajane on: September 30, 2010 10:57:46 PM
I had lots of yarn left after I made my "panda hat" (found at https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=360729.0), so I decided to make some matching gloves to go with it. Here they are!

The whole set!

The gloves are a little wider than I would've liked at the top, and they're not completely even, but I still love them  Grin

I used the pattern found here: http://cerise.theirisnetwork.org/archives/362. It's SO easy and they come together really fast. I think it's a really good project for beginners, and I'm sure you could easily make it fancier if you're more advanced. I added some decreases (and then increases) at the bottom so they'd fit around my wrists better.

7  My first project! (The hat from hell) UPDATE: Now with panda ears! in Crochet: Completed Projects by shaylajane on: September 28, 2010 06:23:57 PM
I've finally completed my very first project, a hat. It's just a really basic, all sc beanie, but it was hell for me to make. I had to start and restart it at least 5 times, I kept losing count, all sorts of horrible things kept happening! But I'm so, so proud of it. I think it turned out quite well for my first project. So here it is!

(Sorry for the bad phone pic and my weird face.)

I really like how the colors turned out. I'm thinking of adding cat ears made with the same yarn. Opinions?

One of my friends suggested panda ears instead of cat ears, so that's what I did. I'm not entirely happy with them, but I think they look ok.

8  Re: Show Off Your Hair--Dyed, Cut, or Styled by Yourself! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by shaylajane on: August 31, 2010 09:12:44 AM
I've been dying my hair for a long while now, but it wasn't until the past few years that it actually turned out REALLY nice. Crazy colors I've had before that have no pics are red and pink, but they both turned out horrible anyway!

I can't post pictures yet, so here's the link to the evolution of my hair:

1. First is this weird bleaching that was actually the nicest my hair had ever bleached at that point.
2. The reason for that bleaching was my awesome orange hair, still my favorite color I've had.
3. The orange faded into what I called my "mac and cheese" hair.
4. Then I bleached over that and it turned out this yellow-y blonde that I also loved.
5. Then is was black for maybe like...three weeks (though it has been black MANY other times).
6. Then I bleached it again. First it was this goldish color, but then after another bleaching, it turned into the nice blonde in the picture.
7. The reason for that bleaching was for pink on the top.
8. And blue on the bottom! (I was actually expecting purple...The color was called Not-So-Shy Violet. But I still loved the blue.)
9. And then came my lovely mohawk. I loved it so so much.
10. Then the colors started to fade and look gross so I bleached it again.
11. Then, due to an unfortunate bleaching accident, I had to cut my 'hawk off =[ Worst. Moment. Ever.
12. To cheer myself up, I added some leftover color to my bangs.
13. Then that faded and I just did straight up blue. It looked really nice ^_^
14. At this point I had run out of bleach powder, so I went with a brown that turned out really ugly.
15. And that brings us to what I have today, a dark brown that actually looked black when I first dyed it. Pretty boring.

After typing that all out, I've realized that I've bleached my hair A LOT. I'm surprised I'm not bald haha.
