1  Pillow Dude in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Harleytime on: February 10, 2011 05:16:29 AM
Well, I started him with all sorts of lofty ambitions. He was going to be a Hug Monster with big arms that would wrap around you... But then I got his body done and he's just so convenient to lie on...

So now he's Pillow Dude!

Here's my large long-suffering cat chilling out with Pillow Dude so you can see what size he is:

Thanks for looking!

2  Paper Cut Jungle in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by Harleytime on: February 01, 2011 06:00:39 PM
I had a canvas lying around and I really suck at painting so I decided to see if I could make a scene entirely out of paper. I cut out the front of the canvas and stuck the back layer of cardstock to the frame of the canvas (if that makes sense). It's all layers of different coloured paper. I'm not sure whether it is actually completed... I feel like it's missing something, and it could probably do with more detail, but since it was really more of an experiment to flex my paper craft muscles I'm not too bothered for the moment!

Thanks for looking! Let me know what you guys think! Comments and criticism welcome x

3  Demented Plushie in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Harleytime on: January 24, 2011 11:57:02 AM
This is my second attempt at making a plushie - I wanted to make a round, cute, tennis-ball type plushie, but due to my complete lack of spatial awareness, I forgot that two circles only make a sort of chubby pancake shape!

He ended up looking a bit demented, so I added some gnashing teeth so he could look full-blown crazy.

He also has WINGS!

Here he is chilling with my cat:

Thanks for looking! If anybody knows how to make a (simple) round plushie (I don't own a sewing machine), please tell me!

4  Dissected Little Pony! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Harleytime on: December 24, 2010 05:36:15 PM
I wanted to make a pony to do with studying medicine, and in my research (Google Images, in case you're picturing me slaving over reference books) I came across this My Little Pony dissection by a guy called Jason Freeny who does this regularly with all manner of children's toys and then sells them for hundreds on ebay.

I thought his was as cute as punch, but possibly a little too cutesy for what I wanted to do. I also don't have hundreds of euro lying around, so I figured I'd just make one of my own (that's allowed right? If it's for my own use?). I wanted mine to be more Med-school dissection pony and less adorable skeleton creature. So I did it all up and then painted it all. My eyeless (have yet to paint the eye back in), ugly pony is all yellowed bones and inaccuracy. For example, it's spine should obviously run along its back but it doesn't because of the despair I felt every time I tried to get that to work for me. Maybe I should have worked with a smaller pony!  Roll Eyes

5  Firebird in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by Harleytime on: December 24, 2010 06:13:31 AM
I don't really know what to call this (or where to put it!) - it's a bigger than an ATC, but the same basic idea.

It pops out a bit thanks to foam pads, and the beads are glued on.

Thanks for looking!

6  My Little Prima Ballerina in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Harleytime on: December 23, 2010 05:50:24 AM
My first custom My Little Pony. Pretty much all I had to hand were paints, thread and fimo, so I scrubbed off the pony's eyes and symbol with acetone and painted on my own bedroom eyes, slippers and a new symbol (ribbon bow and ballet slippers).

Then I made her a tutu with ribbon and embroidered it with beads and golden thread, and made her a "tiara" out of fimo, before painting it and sticking crystals on.

Overall I'm pretty happy with her for a first attempt!

7  Re: Octopus in a hurry! in Halloween Costumes by Harleytime on: December 23, 2010 05:10:26 AM
Thanks so much for this post - I know this is more than a little late, but you helped me make my boyfriend his Halloween costume this year and he loved it! He went as Paul the Psychic Octopus from the Soccer World Cup!

I just copied your instructions. Thank you so much!! It was a great costume!!

8  My Very First Papercutting Project in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by Harleytime on: December 23, 2010 05:06:05 AM
I'm completely broke so this year I've resorted to crafting all my presents. I made this yesterday for my boyfriend - still have to decide what colour background to put it on. I'm wavering between this blue and a burnt orange.

It was my first time doing any sort of paper cutting and I had not anticipated the patience you need to get this done! It took (what felt like) forever! Also since I didn't really plan it out that much in advance, it looks a bit crowded at the top, but anyway.

Thanks for looking!
