1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Owl theme baby boy shower help? on: August 24, 2010 04:39:20 AM
So I have just over two months until my sister's baby shower. We have recently decided that she is going to have a Owl theme baby shower, mixing various patterns and shades of blues browns and greens. My centerpieces are going to be a mix of owls made from burlap and various patchy sections of fabric within a nest, and small potted trees hung with painted (also various shades of green, brown, and green) acorns and owls made from pine cones stuffed with fiberfill to look like little white fluffy owls (I also want to add brown somehow to the fiberfill but I am still working on that one). I think I have most of the decor figured out I am just going very rustic and country but not full-blown country. I am using my cricut to make invitations and banners, games, nametags etc. Everything is in the planning stages right now or not done, but as I complete things I would love to share pictures if anyone  is interested.

Right now though I am really having a hard time figuring out something that is in the same style to give for a favor, I had several ideas planned at one time such as a recipe booklet attached to spoons, chocolate owls (not really thrilled at the idea of making like 100 chocolate owls), making some sort of trail-mix and packaging it and calling it owl crunch. My problem is... I don't really feel like those ideas go with the rustic, outdoorsy, fallish theme I am working on. My husband and sister (which by the way is the mommy to be's twin) are of no help, I often question my sisters taste level so there really is no one that I can turn to and get a valid suggestion from. Please if anyone out there could point me in a different direction I would LOVE to hear it, I just need suggestions I can most of the time figure out the odds and ends myself.

Also if there is anything I am making that you would like instructions for please feel free to ask for them or even just pictures.

Thanks everyone in advance! I am really hoping some of you wonderful crafty people can help me out there!
2  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / Hello from Pittsburgh Pa on: August 23, 2010 06:02:10 AM
Hello crafty peoples!
This is really a new concept to me, discussing crafts with people who actually might have some idea what I am talking about! So bare with me as I try to adjust! I am 31, I have one daughter and a great and patient husband. I would consider myself foremost a scrabooking diva of sorts, but I dabble in lots of other things. My current projects include working on 24 fall inspired wedding centerpieces & other odds and ends for a November wedding, a owl themed baby shower jammed packed with crafts that need lots of time and effort and that are just outta my ability to explain to anyone else how to assemble, and scrapbooking whenever I get the chance... which these days is not that often Sad.  Basically I'm here to find people who are of like mind and ability who I can bounce an opinion off of, or get a valid suggestion from without getting that deer in headlights look I have grown so fond of lately! Looking forward to craft talkin'!
