1  UNITED STATES / Massachusetts / Visiting Boston on: June 19, 2006 01:19:53 PM
Hey All,
I will be in Boston June 30th-July5th (I wouldn't ususally be there on such a touristy weekend, but my university band is coming in to play at a convention) ... anywho, we have some free time and I was wondering where I needed to go to find the best stores and/or any  events going on around then... I have been to Boston before (my fav. city, I hope to live there when I am finally finished with school) so I am not afraid to travel a little. Any help would be appreciated!
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Superhero Banquet on: June 06, 2006 12:57:34 PM
I am in charge of a banquet for my university's new student orientation in august. I have to come up with some fun, yet inexpensive and easy, decorations for the banquet. Our theme is Superheros.... any suggestions?
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / out-door pillows... on: May 03, 2006 09:59:06 PM
Soon, it will be summer and I will have two glorious weeks between classes to get some much needed crafting done... I moved into my very first 'all by myself' apartment this winter, and I am looking forward to making a few fun things for my patio.
A good friend and I are going to build a bench out of an old door (that is the plan anyway) but I also want to have some cushions that I can leave outside. What kind of fabric should I use? Is there any special batting that should go on the inside to keep it from molding/becoming a critter home? I have okay sewing skills, and any help would be greatly appreciated!
4  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Las Vegas boutiques? on: February 28, 2006 02:46:14 PM
Hello all!
I am a Las Vegas native who has been banished to West Texas. I am going back for spring break and I wanted to look for a 'little black dress' for an upcoming formal while I am there, and I was wondering if anyone knew of any good/funky stores for chunky girls. Can anyone help?\
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Cat Smell Prevention! on: December 13, 2005 09:10:14 AM
Hello Ladies! I am getting a new cat for Christmas (I saw him and we fell in love) I am really excited, but I was wondering what you all did to help quell the cat smell. I know that cleaning the litterbox daily is important, but what else works for you. Do  you recommend any specific litter or anything? This is my first inside cat since I was little, and then my mom took care of everything.. Thanks in advance!
6  California / California: South / Coming to California on: November 13, 2005 08:14:17 PM
Hey all you craftistas...
I will be in the LA area December 27-31 with a friend who wants to move there. He picked me to go with him because I have been there before (I grew up in Las Vegas and vistied family and stuff) but he didn't listen to me when I told him that I haven't been there in a loooong time and that I was pretty young when I was there last... I think 13... Now that I am older I know that the area has more to offer than Disneyland and the beach... Of course I am going to take him to see the ocean, (the only "ocean" that he has seen is the yucky gulf of Mexico Tongue), and we will probably spend a day doing the whole 'Hollywood" thing, but I am looking for some cool things to pass the time. What would YOU recommend that we do? Remember that he is looking to move there, so something to show him the real side of LA. not just the touristy side. I am not really looking for crafty things, because I am definatly the crafty one, and this trip isn't really for me(but of course if I can fit some in I will Wink)....Any advice would be helpful, all the California tourism people suggest is to drink wine and go to Disneyland...boo, where can I find real culture and life in the city?
Thanks in Advance!
Melissa- who is extremely excited about getting the heck out of Texas for a few days!
7  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / easy slip covers on: July 26, 2005 05:32:13 PM
I need some recommendations for an easy slipcover for a couch. I don't really want to spend $100 on one, and I would prefer to not have to buy some kind of pattern.. so any tips are welcome!
8  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / I'm getting a new sewing machine... any suggestions? on: April 27, 2005 07:37:49 PM
My birthday is coming up quickly and my mother and I have decided that I get a new sewing machine since I have spent so much time on the one I have now. It is a great machine, however it was given to my mom when she graduated from High School in 1973, and then passed on to me when I moved out and went to college.... needless to say there have been a few nifty advances since '73.
Do you have any suggestions on brands, or special functions that I should look out for? I can't get a $300 machine... and I just do light sewing.. purses, the occasional outfit, costumes, ect.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / wrinkled interfacing... on: April 06, 2005 09:03:52 PM
IT seems as though my interfacing always gets wrinkled when I turn my purses right side out... does anyone have any suggestions?
10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Visiting NYC on: March 17, 2005 11:48:35 AM
Hello! I am visiting NYC next week and I want to get some good shopping done. If you know of any great stores where I can find unique crafting supplies, or even stuff that other craftista's have made, please reply! I am not looking for super high end stuff, because I am a poorish college student. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
