1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Paris Themed Prom Ideas? on: February 27, 2013 06:03:57 PM
I'm helping make decorations for our schools prom. It's going to be paris/french themed, I've started collecting ideas on a secret pinterest board if anyone has any suggestion that would be super helpful! We are borrowing a giant Effiel tower from other school and I'm fairly decent at sewing If that helps

I was testing a pattern I got at a thrift store with a bedsheet. Afterwards I regretted using such ugly fabric on such a awesome patterns, so I did the only thing a normal person would do. Glue a bunch of comic books to it!

It took FOREVER for the gluing. Especially because it's a circle skirt. It's also super stiff. It has a chunky black zipper in the back so one can get out of it to. I also made a matching clutch because I had left over ribbon from the bow.

Now, to find a place to wear it....

3  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Pick of the week cards on: February 28, 2011 09:13:42 PM
You know those pick of the week cards you get at starbucks? I have like 30 of them. I saved them because the have cool random band pictures on them.

Any ideas?
4  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / PIKACHU! I CHOOSE YOU! on: December 21, 2010 03:29:35 PM
My local RiteAid has a small clothing section where there are always tons of cheap canvas shoes. I bought a navy pair unsure what do do with them. I was inspired by all the painted shoes on here I thought I might give it a try.

I'm not the most talented artist, but I'll fairly happy how they turned out.
And I swear, pikachu's eyes look better in real life. The flash made them look stupid.

Comments? Questions?

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Comic dress ~ 8 hours of my life i'll never get back on: December 19, 2010 02:00:23 PM
This was a very intersting project.

I made a dress out of bed sheets usuing a pattern, I put all the parts together but it was pretty plain. So I took some unloved 90's comic books and glued them on in a paper mache type fashion. It's really stiff, for obvious reasons, and really hot too. The hardest part was the skirt since it is a circle skirt. I also made a matching clutch.

BTW, my dress form is made of hot pink ducktape. Cool right?

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / New sweater! on: December 19, 2010 01:50:59 PM
I needed a new sweater for winter. Recon time!

Before: I was having problems with the flash, but you get the general idea.

After: New sweater I'm not afraid to wear in public!

Sorry the pictures are huge.
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / !MEOW! ~Kitty ears and collar on: October 11, 2010 09:06:36 PM
I made these for one of my friends. I got a score on the felt. One of the teachers used it to cover the boards and was going to throw it all away! I got like 3 yards of maroon felt for free! And all I had to do is pick out the staples!

I hot glued the felt to the headband. Fancy eh?

The button is just for show, it's really velcro in the back
