1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Re: I want to make a bracelet but don't know how. can you help? on: March 30, 2006 08:06:01 PM
Memory wire might work well for your bracelet.

Anyone like roses? I think they are fun to make and wire wrap into delightful pendants. Example of my latest one.

Love your work.  Just one question....What gauge of wire do you use for your wire wrapping?

Really cute!  I love the variety of colors and beads.  This would be a great way to use up stray beads.  Is the wire memory wire or just regular wire?
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: Are there any websites you use for inspiration for making jewelry? on: January 15, 2006 03:38:01 PM
I like to look at magazines like InStyle, Allure Glamour, and beading magazines for ideas.  For websites I like Girl Shop (www.girlshop.com) and Etsy (www.etsy.com).  I've also came across some pretty cool stuff at Target.

I keep a folder on my desktop called "Jewelry Ideas" and I save pics of cool jewelry that I find online.  That way I can browse through them if I need some ideas.

Also, Fire Mountain Gems will send you a huge catalog for free!  They are my favorite.  Smiley
6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: Cheap Sources for Wire on: December 13, 2005 07:30:15 AM
I finally ordered some wire the other day.  I got it for $4 per 5ft spool (20gauge) through Fire Mountain.  I had to order 10 to get that price but I needed quite a bit anyway for Christmas gifts.

Thanks for all the imput!

I would recommend a lariat or even skip the necklace and go with some really cool earrings.

BTW, I love the dress!
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Cheap Sources for Wire on: November 20, 2005 02:03:46 PM
I've been practicing my wire work with craft wire for a while and finally bought some sterling silver wire from Fire Mountain.  I LOVE it.  It is so easy to work with and is really pretty.  But, it's a bit pricey.  I think it was about $10.50 for 5 ft of 20 guage half hard wire.

Any suggestions on where I can get some cheap sterling silver wire?
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Itchy Sweaters on: November 18, 2005 07:56:56 AM
I'm not a knitter but thougt that maybe some of you could help.  I researched it but couldn't find an answer....

I bought a couple of new sweaters.  They're pretty lightweight and soft but are totally itchy after about 20 minutes.  It's a blend a few different things but I suspect it's either the wool or mohair that cause the itchiness.  I think it's only 10% wool and 8% mohair.

Is there anything at all that I can do to make this sweater less itchy?  Help!

If you look in the signature line of many craftster members they'll have their Etsy address listed.  Etsy is awesome!  Lots of nice handmade items....most of which are reasonably priced.  I'm in the process of setting up an etsy store right now.  I can't wait!  Smiley

Ebay is also a great source but is a little more difficult to sort through.  Ebay has a category for Handcrafted Artisan Jewelry.  Really nifty stuff there, too.

Good luck!
