11  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Time to start reading! on: June 11, 2011 01:54:19 AM
I really love reading and I hate it that nowadays I don't have much time to read. However, on July I have my first paid vacation so I can finally take my time and read some of those books that I have thought of reading for a long time now. And of course when I read I need a proper bookmark.

This one was inspired by Wayuki's Ugly Bunny that I totally fell in love with!

12  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / The strongest girl in the world on: June 11, 2011 01:27:28 AM
Pippi Longstocking, the strongest girl in the world, is here! She is a character in a series of children's books by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren. She is like Peter Pan because she never wants to grow old and she is super strong, being able to lift her horse one-handed without any difficulty.

My favourite parts are the socks and the blue dress for a reason that I don't exactly know. Again the hair was one of the hardest parts to make. To make the braids the ways Pippi has them I had to use some wire and I have never used wire in my dolls before.
It was really fun to make her and personally I love the way she turned out to be. She has travelled to her new home already even though this one was one of the hardest ones to give away.
13  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Little My on: June 05, 2011 09:29:11 AM
After working in Moominworld theme park in Naantali I really wanted to try to crochet some Moomin characters. I was really happy when someone ordered crocheted Little My from me so I could finally take time for making one. I don't know if you're familiar with the Moomins but if you wish to read more about them you can find a Wikipedia article here.

Little My is mischievous and playful character who lives with the Moomins. She has a bad temper but she is always there for her friends.
This here is my crocheted version of her. She is about 18 cm tall.

And here is how Tove Jansson, the creator of Moomins, saw Little My:

14  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Miss Amalia on: May 29, 2011 04:24:49 AM
I was finally able to finish my latest project that I started a while ago. Meet Amalia!

She is made mostly according to Carolyn Christmas's Suzette pattern but I wanted to make a bit different kind of hair so here's the result. I also added a hat and a small nose. It was hard to give away this amigurumi but I am happy that she didn't go far and I know that she in a good home. She moved to my mom few days ago.  Smiley
I hope you like her.
