21  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / fixing a damaged cd...anyone? anyone? on: July 25, 2005 06:12:22 PM
so this might be completely not craft talk but it's a subject i figured clever creative people like us might have some insight into...i have this cd (computer software not music) and it's really badly scratched so that it won't work on my computer. i tried some goo that was supposed to fix it but either the goo sucks or its beyond repair. any ideas how i could repair this cd? diy suggestions would be best but i'd buy something if i was sure it'd work.
22  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 3 ENTRIES / diorama in a purse on: June 30, 2005 03:49:54 PM
here is my contribution to the diorama challenge. it was inspired by a web site about victor hugo era france and i took the images from that web site.

it's made in a cigar box-turned purse for easy portability. here's the front

and the diorama on display

finally, a close-up of the scene. hope you can all see it clearly (sorry about the podge-related glare)

so what do you think? all i used was the box, the images, tiny scissors, podge, newspaper and some red flowers.
23  CANADA / Ontario / durham region crafters? just curious on: June 20, 2005 10:05:52 AM
just out of curiosity, are there any crafters here living in durham region (oshawa, whitby, ajax, etc.)? it's hard to tell from profiles, since i for one put toronto as location but really live in durham (it was more of a safety precaution than anything else)...anyway, just wondering Smiley
24  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / where the heck do you get those matchboxes? on: June 03, 2005 02:33:44 PM
i love all these little matchbox shrines everyones making and am wondering where you're getting the matchboxes? can you buy them empty somewhere, like michaels or something, or are you actually using boxes that once held matches? any other cheap ideas that i can make shrines in?
thanks all
25  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / time is on my side...or the watch flower pin thingy on: April 15, 2005 10:11:57 AM
so this is my first completed project post! yay!
i never remember to wear my watch and since i had a watch face that had been sitting around for a while, it's strap long broken, i decided to put it to good use...and now i'll always know what time it is.
all it took were a few fabric scraps, felt, a hot glue gun and some sewing.

26  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / where can i get cheap fake flowers...in canada? on: April 04, 2005 03:03:41 PM
i have lots of projects in mind that include fake flowers. where's a good place to get lots for cheap? michaels? wal-mart? or somewhere online? any suggestions would be great.
27  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / advertising your site...what works best? on: March 17, 2005 02:09:46 PM
so my artsy-craftsy e-zine is almost ready to be published to the web (once i get off my butt and get to work). i'm wondering how everyone around here goes about promoting their different sites. do you just start finding people to exchange links with, post messages on related board, register yourself in a search engine, etc? i want people to read it but i want people to know it's out there.
28  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / ABCs of ATCs? on: March 09, 2005 09:45:32 AM
ok, i know that was a really stupid subject line but i couldn't resist. i hear so much about artist trading cards, esp. around the mail art swap ring. am i the only one who isn't sure what these are? i wanted to find about them and maybe do a little piece for my ezine. anyone know some good online resources or maybe wanna contribute to my zine with a thing on them?
29  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / is there anyway to cut a clay pot? on: February 26, 2005 12:43:19 PM
so i have this crafty decorating idea which i hope to make my first craftster finished product post but it would involve cutting a terra cotta pot in half. anyone know if this is possible...and if it is possible, would it be really hard (i'm too clutzy for power tools)?
thanks a bunch
30  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / binding basics...any suggestions? on: February 13, 2005 09:31:10 PM
i'm new to craftser and have noticed a lot of talk about binding journals yourselves. i've always been big on decorating store bought journals and notebooks but i'd like to start binding them, making them from scratch. where do i start? i've read about coptic, japanese stab, pamphlet, etc. (i don't even know if i have the names right) but i'm really overwhelmed. anyone got an easy way to bind for beginners?

i'm sorry if this has been posted already but i was having problems with the search thing.

thanks a lot!
