2461  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / anyone know how to make a baby's shopping cart cover? on: July 25, 2010 08:45:00 PM
So, My little munchkin is about to be able to sit in a shopping cart. I don't want to shell out lots of green for a generic cart cover with toys or whatever when I can make my own. Does anyone have any idea on how to make one? Or can refer me to a pattern? That would be super awesome! Thanks!

These are so awesome. I loved Labrynth while growing up and am now reminded to get my copy back from a friend that borrowed it.... Smiley
My daughter loves nesting dolls, too, so I might have a craft to get to. Smiley

2465  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Perfect purple pillowcase dress! on: July 17, 2010 08:39:47 PM
I finally started and finished a project! It super helped that I had a deadline. I gave myself about a week but ended up finishing this in just 3 days. It probably would have taken less time but I have a 3 year old and an 8 month old. Priorities, I know. Smiley So here it is on my niece for her 3rd birthday!

I just bought a standard sized pillowcase set that came in a handy cloth bag made of the same material, cut off 4 inches from the top and J shaped arm holes. I sewed all of the raw edges, added a slip through ribbon (correct term? I have no idea.), and pockets with lace and lace around the bottom. I also made ties for the back out of the scrap fabric from what i cut from the top so it didn't balloon and kept it more fitted. She loved it and i was so happy I made it instead of buying one. Now I need to make one for my daughter since it was so cute, easy and b/c she was my dutiful dolly. Smiley Yay!

That sounds super tasty and thanks. Smiley I just wanted to see if there were some "tried-and-true" that folks here have used before. I had *another* recipe, but it really wasn't all that good. I think there's something to be said for the "oldies", ya know?

Wow! This is an awesome tutorial! It's very encouraging and I really like how thorough it is. I love soaps but haven't gotten into making it too much just yet - was a little nervous. Can't wait to get into it now! Thanks!
