Pixel arrived today!! She and her owner we're so sweet - they sent us some local syrup! We can't wait to try it! And I am simply in love with the Luna card that came with her. Thank you, Jellybean89! Let the fun begin!!

Marshmallow came home from Scotland! And I was really spoiled!

Here are some photos:

There were originally 6 bug gummies but, of course, the kids already ate three lol. And there were more pencils but two were grabbed. I believe the only thing not pictured is a lovely crochet poppy pin that Mire took right away and has gone to a party.
I love the earwarmer headband. I was just looking at a pattern for one bc I'm outside at school/work a lot and it's been freezing so thank you! I'm excited to try the tea and I am over the moon about my little Bilbo Lego magnet!!!!!! My little hero!!

Thank you so much, Kat. And I love all of the detail comments you put in the photo album! Thank you, thank you!! Or should I say, "Merci!" As both Mire and I are learning French as well. Too funny!

Thank you again WildFyre!  I agree - you didn't do anything wrong this round. I hope things are looking up now!
And I'm off to check into the new round. :-)

Class: Herbology
House: Ravenclaw
Link: These are some of the links I checked out, along with books from my college courses for more information. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/AYvqkaJPjCOOmsLxw-yDj792rqrQv3qNO-PzD5n5TmqJ3oz_YfVuCN0/
http://www.herbs-info.com/herbs-for-depression.html
http://improvedaging.com/5-natural-herbs-that-increase-libido/
Project name: Various Tinctures
Description: I made three different tinctures and they are all waiting in the cupboard for various periods of time to come to full potency. The three different ones I made were for Depression (I suffer from that), Adrenal Fatigue (I also suffer from that) and Libido (Ill let you make up your mind.
I didnt want to just post a result of my project though. These things affect many men and women and so I wanted to give a little more insight on it. The main one I want to talk about is Adrenal Fatigue. This (https://www.andreanordling.com/blog/what-is-adrenal-fatigue-and-how-do-i-know-if-i-have-it) is a really good article to read and get you started about thinking if this may be something you are suffering from. Guess what some side effects of adrenal fatigue are? Depression and low Libido. Go figure. It is also a major cause of the inability to lose weight and constant exhaustion.

Now on to tinctures. I am NOT a doctor nor do I play one on the internet. I just love learning and have taken a few college courses on herbalism and have since expanded my studies to help improve my own health and that of my family. Please, talk to your doctor!

I am not going to go into detail on what each herb does in each batch as I feel it is fairly self explanatory. The herbs I put in the Adrenal Fatigue tincture help improve symptoms of and counteract adrenal fatigue. The same goes for depression and libido.

Each will be made in a quart sized glass jar with tight fitting lid and 80 proof brandy. You can use vodka but that constricts the blood vessels while the brandy opens them up, therefore getting into your bloodstream faster and more efficiently.

Adrenal Support:
1 quart size glass jar with tight fitting lid
4 tablespoons ashwaganhda
4 tablespoons eleuthero root
2 tablespoons holy basil
2 tablespoons licorice root
enough 80 proof brandy to fill rest of jar

Depression:
1 quart size glass jar with tight fitting lid
2 tablespoons flax seed
2 tablespoons fennel
2 tablespoons valerian root
4 tablespoons lavender
4 tablespoons gingko,
4 tablespoons nettle
4 tablespoons peppermint
4 tablespoons vervain
4 tablespoons St. Johns Wort
enough 80 proof brandy to fill rest of jar
(may also need a second smaller jar to put some of the mix in if woody parts and roots swell too much. Add more brandy to smaller mix.)

Libido:
1 quart size glass jar with tight fitting lid
3 tablespoons powdered or chopped ginseng
3 tablespoons gingko
3 tablespoons holy basil
3 tablespoons ashwagahnda
3 tablespoons damiana
2 tablespoons fennel seed
3 to 5 slices fresh ginger (or substitute with 3 tablespoons powdered ginger.)

All herbs must go in their jar (or more than one if a lot of root and wood expansion occurs) and cover with brandy to the top of the jar. LABEL YOUR LIDS!! Keep in a dark cool place. Shake daily for the first week or so then a few times a week for the next 6 weeks or longer. Strain and put in dropper bottles. For an adult, a dose is 1 to 3 droppers 1 to 3 times a day.

Whew! Ok, I think thats it!

Nessie got to join us in our girl scout derby races this weekend. We didn't place anywhere but we did have fun. Then we got a snow day on Tuesday and school was cancelled. Fun!

Project Name: Sewing necklace
Project Page Link: none
Brief Description: Jewelry and sewing are definitely two different mediums. I made a necklace with cute charms and then drilled a hole in a thimble and put it all together. This was made for my partner but now I definitely have to make one for myself! I'd seen many similar ones the internet but I just used the materials and tools I had to come up with something I liked.

Brief Description: I made these super comforting (and comfortable) cottage socks for a swap partner. I used a yarn that is a blend of alpaca, silk, and merino wool so they are ultra soothing just like I imagine Lily would be with her newborn baby Harry.

Brief Description: I dont wood burn very often - in fact its almost every other year. It makes me nervous, honestly. But my swap partner had it on her wishlist of her top 3 things she would want to receive so I decided to dive in. It worked! It made me remember that I like it even if for an ambitious project.

I wish I had more of this yarn and I would have made the full infinity cowl version instead of this half version. Unfortunately, I got this amazing yarn from a thrift shop and ran out, almost not able to complete it!!

and finally a detention!
Class/Challenge/House Pride: December Detention Challenge
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: E600 Everywhere
Brief Description:
Project Picture: Guys, I have a problem. I dont EVER fix things right away. When something breaks I tell the kids to put it on my fix it shelf until I can get to it. So, of course, it piles up. And sadly, a huge reason some of these are on here is because over the summer my dog had a seizure and went blind for about 30 hours and ran into tables, knocking things over. Thats what the Narnia scene and the fairy box are about. Others, like the eyeball hair clip and the Spooky sign simply needed a quick re-glue. Anyway, I let this stuff pile up for far to long and finally got around to doing it. There are still plenty more to do, but this is it for now.

Nessie helped me make a few batches of delicious pumpkin bread for extra Christmas gifts.
After Christmas, we took Nessie to Muir Woods National Redwood Forest before the shut down. She loved the redwoods and thought the banana slugs were cool. After the forest, we had a delicious stout at the Pelican Inn that was all decked out in holiday fare.
Last weekend, my mother taught us how to wire wrap sea glass and start macrame beading.
My daughter turned 12 the other day and she wanted to go out for lunch. But she is easy and only wanted Subway and Nessie came along lol.

Nessie helped us make gingerbread cookies, make hot cocoa , combat sickness with some essential oils and also helped me wrap about a million presents before Christmas.

We have done loads more over the last two weeks but I will have to post them over the next week or so when I have more time.
