21  Funky Tie Coin Purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by MeShellRene on: August 24, 2005 12:32:41 PM
I found these great ties at a local thrift store and couldn't pass them up, so here's what I did with them.
These are the smaller end of the ties I'm going to use the larger end for a hand bag.

I'm thinking about selling a few of these at an up coming craft show and I was wondering what to charge for them.
The ties were a dollar a peice so I think the minimum I should charge whould be three dollars but then are they even worth that much?

22  Re: HELP! Flat Iron + Dyed Hair = Dull Faded Hair in Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions by MeShellRene on: August 01, 2005 12:00:29 PM
L'Oreal Fria Bright Black

I didn't wash it I just used the conditioner that came with the dye and rinsed it and dryed it, but then later that day I re-weted it and styled it with the flat iron.

I wonder if I had gotten a more expencive flat iron if that would still have happened?

23  HELP! Flat Iron + Dyed Hair = Dull Faded Hair in Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions by MeShellRene on: August 01, 2005 08:41:01 AM
Here's a time line of what has happened. I got my hair cut on a Thursday and bought a flat iron (Conair $15.00) to style it with. Then Saturday morning I dyed it black and it looked really great ( it was a fantastic dark black that when the light hit it just right it had a blue hue to it ) Well we were going out that night and after I used the flat iron to style my hair I noticed that it was a dull black color.... Then Sunday morning after getting ready for church I could see some brown show threw.  So today is Monday and I'm wondering what is the cause for the rapid loss of hair color. It could be many factors....
1.) The flat iron was too hot??
2.) I used the flat iron too soon after dying my hair?
3.) The color I used from the store was too cheep?

I dunno...... I love the way my hair looks after I use the flat iron but I have to have my hair dyed. Has anyone else had this problem??? What can I do to prevent it from happening again??? Help Please.

Here's what the hair style looks like if you wanted to know

24  Re: Retro Dining Room Decor w/ Lots'a Photos!!!! in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by MeShellRene on: June 29, 2005 07:34:58 AM
Thanks so much for all the compliments! I've been struggling with the color options for the living room/ dining room/ kitchen. Here is what I think I'm gonna do as far as paint. (it's photoshoped)
I'd like to paint a black and white check border above the countertops, or stencil or maybe a paper border it all depends on what I can find at the store.

We got a photo from Lowes in there paint section that had green walls and white trim with black leather furniture and though it would look great in our house but it has become a challenge to mix the red and green. What do you think of the color placement?

25  Retro Dining Room Decor w/ Lots'a Photos!!!! in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by MeShellRene on: June 24, 2005 12:14:33 PM
I have been working on the red cabinet in the corner for ever and we finally got done restoring it and moved it up to the dining room. It matched really well with all the other retro red in there! I just couldn't be more happy with it. Plus its really neat to have it in our first house cause my mom and dad had it in their first house too!!!

The table we got for $80 at a local Goodwill and the chairs I got for $10 each at The Salvation Army, I still have one more to finish. The Microwave cart I picked up at an antique store downtown (Omaha, NE) for $25. So Total this room cost me about $180 with all the material and paint for the cabinet.

Here's the Kitchen I really haven't started that room yet, I think we'll paint it red with maybe a black and white check border around the countertops.
I'll have to post picture when I finished with that too.

I'm kinda stumped on what color to paint the dining room walls. Originally we wanted an olive green color but I think that'll look too much like Christmas. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Oh our living room is directly in front of the dining room (kinda behind where the dining room photo was taken) so the one wall runs the entire width of the house and our living room furniture is black leather if that helps.

28  Cassette Tape ID Case *** Tutorial Added*** in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by MeShellRene on: March 02, 2005 02:59:43 PM
This is an ID Case made from an old cassette tape. I split it open ripped out the insides and used heavy duty tape for a hinge. It closes with velcro and has a key ring strap.
It can hold an ID, credit card and 20 bucks just fine.
I don't have any other pictures of it right now but I can take some it people are interested

Here is a quick tutorial I made, sorry if it doesn't help much I dont own a digital camera so I had to draw it out. Hopefuly in the future I can up load some actual photos.

Optional steps:
Key Chain: If you want to add a key chain I would drill
the hole before you add the hinge. If you donthave a drill ( I didnt )
you can use a small screw driver and press and turn in for about a half
hour into the corner of the tape making a hole.

Not so ugly inside: If you dont want to see all the little places you had to
cut plastic away you can line the tape with you choice of material.
I used contact paper.... but Im sure you could use fabric and
spray glue or something along thoes lines.
