91  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: beep beep* on: August 28, 2010 07:06:40 PM
Super-cute! Smiley I love the panels, they complement each other perfectly. And the scooter fabric is awesome. Smiley
92  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / And this is my partner, Sillypants Jackson. (Psych amis!) on: August 28, 2010 04:57:20 PM
So these are kind of old, hence the extreme amounts of hot glue, because I was too lazy to sew everything together. Tongue But I think they came out pretty cute. Here is the whole Psych gang!

From left to right: Lassie, Jules, Henry (who is a little camera shy), Shawn, and Gus

Henry, Shawn, and Gus:

Lassie and Jules:

And detail shots! Jules' ponytail:

Shawn's pineapple:

And Lassiter's gun:

These were a ton of fun to make. Someone needs to start up a Psych Rnd 3 swap for me to join. Tongue

How many stitches are you starting out with? If you're starting out with more than, say, 6-8 stitches, it will get ruffly really fast.

And if you're starting in that range, like with 6 stitches, a little ruffling is normal. The ruffle will flatten out a little bit after you stop increasing and start working even, and the ruffles won't show once you stuff the thing, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Smiley

Thank you so much for all the compliments, she was really fun to create. Smiley

@ annachronism - I would be more than happy to share with you how I made the halter top, if you would like to know for future reference. Smiley

Beyond that, don't ask me for help. XD. She was completely free-form, I just made it up as I went along, which in retrospect wasn't the smartest idea. I didn't write down the rows, so I had to count to make sure the arms/legs came out even. Tongue I think she turned out all right, though.
95  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / How to keep a purse from stretching on: August 27, 2010 06:33:19 AM
I'm in the mood for stash-busting, and I'm also in the mood for a new purse. I'm thinking messenger-bag style, but I haven't quite decided yet. Anyway, I need help on how to prevent the purse's stitches from stretching out once I have the bag full of my junk. I'd really rather not line it, because I am terrible at sewing, but the only other way I could think of would be to do the bag entirely in tunsinian crochet, which would be difficult because I don't have an afghan hook (and a regular hook would make a very small purse indeed).

Anyone else have any brilliant ideas?

I'm excited to see everybody's plushies. Cheesy I imagine we have a very wide variety of characters, so this should be fun.

Like I said, I made good use of my vacation time. Tongue Now I can concentrate on getting used to college and not have to worry about finishing in time. I know it's not till October, but knowing me I would've been like "Oh, I still have time . . . HOLYCRAPIT'SOCTOBER7TH." So now I know it will arrive safely and on time. XD.
99  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: ~ Alice in Wonderland Inspired Necklace ~ on: August 23, 2010 04:00:50 PM
Beautiful! I think it is a very lovely piece without screaming "I'm an Alice nerd!" Tongue

In other news, I have a single rose earring that looks a lot like the rose on your necklace . . . I think you have given me a use for it now. Smiley
