11  Re: Instant swap 8! in The Swap Gallery by kelsorama on: June 03, 2006 03:59:56 PM
Alright! I finally got all my stuff today, which was really nice because I had to suffer through the SAT this morning....
check it out:

A great tote bag -- perfect for when I go to the beach later this summer.

3 kanzashi flowers(only two shown in picture), 2 pairs of earrings, and some stitch markers for my knitting (exactly what I've been needing. I've been using garbage twist ties for far too long.)

And here is the third kanzashi flower. I put it right in my hair as soon as I opened the package! And err... ignore the creepy eye thing I've got going on in the picture, ha.

I love everything, thank you!
And I agree with rackycoo-- I, too, am now addicted to instant swapping!

12  "Hope your spleen feels better soon" card in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by kelsorama on: May 18, 2006 06:02:56 PM
My good friend has a very bad case of mono, and the doctor says that he mustn't do anything strenuous or he could damage his spleen.  So I made him a little card to make him laugh (but hopefully not too much; we certainly wouldn't want to rupture any internal organs).

aaaannndd a close up...

The inside has a little note about spleens and their functions.

All in all, I think it turned out very well.  Now I must go study for finals... like I should have been doing...

13  Artsy Mexican style cross--damn cool! in Completed Projects by kelsorama on: May 18, 2006 04:35:20 PM
...because who is not absolutely in love with Mexican art???

I painted this cross (rather painstakingly) with acrylic paint, and added a few personal touches...

The colors look a little washed out, but in real life they are actually very bright...

This was a cross that I got at Hobby Lobby, I believe.  Here's a work in progress picture:

That was the original color of the cross, which was of course way too bland for kelsorama's taste.

A close up:

As you can see, I added a polymer clay skull (with purple rhinestone eyes!) and purple glitter to the squarish designs on the left and right (and bottom).

Wow, I am so damn proud of this thing, it turned out much better than I expected.  I still need to spray it with some varnish, but after that it's going to hang right along side my other Mexican art!

15  Felt camera case with stenciled gun in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by kelsorama on: March 31, 2006 08:45:31 PM
I made a camera case out of felt, and I think it turned out rather nicely...

This really only took 5 minutes, including the stenciling. The inside is actually zebra print fabric, but I didn't take a picture of that.
Hope you like!

16  Decoupaged Tampon Case in Completed Projects by kelsorama on: March 30, 2006 07:23:26 PM

I used an old tin, and a stolen airplane safety guide.
Alas, some poor soul will desperately search in his seatback pocket for this such guide, and just be shit out of luck as the plane crashes.

But it makes for a cool tampon case, I think.  And it holds 4 tampons exactly, perfectly. Now my tampons won't come flying out of my purse when I open it, which is always a plus.

17  clutch-like wallet or wallet-like clutch? in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by kelsorama on: March 30, 2006 06:32:25 PM
I desperately needed a wallet that could hold my growing number of cards and the like.  Thus was born this beauty here:

I used cheapo remnant fabric and a 2 dollar closure from Joann's.  I also used a piece of a folder between the fabric to stiffen it up.
All in all, the stitching is crooked, and I know I could have done better, but for a first attempt at a wallet, I'd say it's not too bad.

18  Old Keys Windchime in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by kelsorama on: March 27, 2006 09:12:18 PM
I recently came into the possesion of a lot of junk, craft items, material, etc.  Among these things were a bunch of old keys.  So I decided to make a windchime.

I used maybe between 50 and 60 keys, thin jewelry wire, and a metal ring from the bottome of an old lampshade.

The keys make a very lovely noise, as opposed to the clunky noise I was expecting.  Oddly, not as weighty as I anticipated, either.
