1  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / NEED help with my super boring living room! beige floral couches. UGH on: July 16, 2010 10:03:44 AM
so, i hate our living room, its so dull and anemic looking. hubby wont get new furniture and so i want to make the bESt of it,but i find it soo hard to match.i neeeed ideas for colours

also, we rent so we cant paint

my idea was to make it a sand/beach colour theme...teal,turquoiseand the sandy beige/goldish of the couches
but i am too afraid to add BRIGHT accents in those shades and the fabric i currently have matches but is still very pale
could i add bright decor in teal/turqouise andleavethe couches/cushions more subtle?

(sorry my spacebar is not working great)
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Am I crazy to even attempt reupholstering this? on: July 09, 2010 11:01:50 AM
hey everyone

I haven't been around in a while, but it seems every time I have a baby I just feel like crafting! So, I just had baby #4 a few weeks ago and am dying to get some things done around the house, and using up this creative energy.

SO, I've been wanting chocolate brown couches for a while now, hubby is opposed to buying a new set since we have excellent condition sofas we bought a few yrs back that he cannot let go of.. Anyway I have a chance to get these sofas but have no clue how to reupholster (I've only ever done a stool which did turn out awesome though) and I have no idea how much time it will take realistically.

I really want a chocolate brown and tiffany blue living room! And I can't wait to make matching cushions and find some thrift store wing back chairs to reupholster too.

What do you think?

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Amy Butler Weekender(ish) Tutorial? on: November 01, 2008 08:48:16 PM
Anyone know where I can find something online similar in shape/style to the Weekender ?

I don't want to pay for the pattern when I know I don't want it that size. I'm making something smaller. I just need general directions/order for putting something like that together. Ie. when to sew on the pockets, when/how to put in the zipper, when and how to sew the lining and piping to it etc.

Can anyone help??

Anyone know of a tutorial with pics?
I don't have any boxes with lids though, only regular cardboard moving boxes. I was hoping to do them up with fabric to put in my girls' room for their toys, but don't know how to line the inside..

10  CLOTHING / Clothing Sewalongs / Re: Sew Along: "Sew What! Skirts" on: September 09, 2008 07:13:55 PM
I am looking into getting this book but am wondering if most, if not all, of the patterns can be adjusted to be ankle or floor-length

Also, has anyone made skirts using these patterns for children? Do they work just as well? Could I just use the standard measurements they give at a store like Old Navy or something? ( I have a lot of kids to sew for and not everyone's measurements)
