1  Re: Gathered Roots - Round 5 (Gallery) in The Swap Gallery by jnny_heck on: August 13, 2013 03:55:17 PM
I received from Eclectic Dreamer, and what a lovely package!  Thank you so much for this fun and useful swap!

First she sent me many dried herbs that she picked and from her herbs: mullein, St. John's wort, stinging nettle, comfrey.  She also sent some Ball labels that disintegrate when washed, and lavender massage oil (not pictured!  Shocked oops!)

Next, she sewed a few projects for herb foraging/gathering.  An apron with great, whipmsical pattern on the front.

Tote bag with very beautiful (and soft!) floral fabric

A zippered pouch and fabric squares- cue mushroom, and botanical mushroom (love mushrooms-- how did you know?)

Denim gathering bag with long strap to wear around body and short handle to hold bag open Smiley  All made from re-used fabrics (very soft)

Finally, she included a two-piece picnic set! It folds up to be a basket or down to lay as a mat.  Very cute!

thanks again, great swap gallery everyone!

4  Re: Fungus Among Us! Mushroom Swap Rnd 2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by jnny_heck on: December 23, 2012 05:27:20 PM
I received last week on Monday, but things have been crazy (as I'm sure they are for you guys, too) with finals and the holidays.  I'm really glad you liked your package Raging Sloth. I loved mine too!

I got hand-made stamps on the coolest tree stump pieces, a great piece of mushroom fabric, and an amazing clay/sticks/moss art piece.

Despite all of its packaging, the mushrooms didn't stay glued down and I haven't had a chance to fix it yet, but I love it!! Thanks for a great swap!!

I received from TWO partners already.  You ladies really have your acts together!

On Tuesday I was happy to see a letter from Eiseldora in my mailbox.  She made me a Mrs. Weasley sweater Smiley I think these are definitely a staple to a HP xmas tree.  Thanks, I love it!

Then today I received from TroubleT.  She made me Weasley Wizard Wheezes fudge (which took a big bite out of bsince I got the mail right after biking home tonight- mmmmm), and some Luna Lovegood and herbology themed ornaments. They are glazed clay and look beautiful.

Thanks ladies!! I am very excited to get my HP tree going, and would love to see pictures of others' HP trees/holiday decor!

8  Craft Hope Project 11 in Crafty Charitable/Social Causes by jnny_heck on: February 06, 2011 12:21:03 PM
I don't know how many of you have heard of crafthope.com, but their current project is sending safe birthing kits to the organization Konbit Sante in Haiti.

From crafthope:  "Even before the earthquake, Haitis health statistics were dismal, and now the need is even greater.  Shockingly, one in eight Haitian children dies before the age of five, and their maternal mortality rate is 1,400 deaths for every 100,000 a  reflection of the fact that the majority of the population lives in poverty/on less than a dollar a day. Only one in every 10,000 Haitians has access to a physician."

Contents of safe birthing kit:

1 small bar of soap (updated 1/16/2011)
1 piece of clean plastic sheeting (3 feet wide by 4 feet long)
1 piece of clean string, 24 inches long
1 packet alcohol wipe
1 set of sterile latex gloves
1 packet (or travel container) Purelle
1 handmade tote bag

receiving blanket36 inches square
small stuffy toy

These kits are an easy project that can strongly impact the lives of women and children with limited medical access in Haiti.

These sites do a much better job explaining what this is all about:
