1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: needle book swap gallery on: February 07, 2011 05:25:52 PM
well, I think I'm not alone in being a little bit uber-awed upon opening my package from my swap buddy.
I feel quite spoiled!  I fear my package will pale in comparison...anyway!
My internet is (again) being all crap on me, so posting a photo is getting very problematic.  However, I did post a picture elsewhere already, so take a little venture for now!

Now to hope this comment posts...

Thanks Whats_Her_Name!
2  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Needle Book Swap (SU: 11 Dec '10 - 31 Dec '10, SO: 01 Feb '11) on: December 18, 2010 05:13:18 PM
I've just sent in my survey!  I love the ideas in the lead post and definitely would like to try this project, since I've got some terrific but small pieces of fabric just waiting for this sort of thing...plus I need a needlebook so my embroidery may travel with me more easily!

I love the bird punches.  I'd buy some if there were more available and with a bit of double stick tape put a flock on the wall.  I love the colors, too.  Beautiful project.

Oh my goodness that's incredible.  235.  I thought cutting out just a few was irritating, and I'm right handed!  It's gorgeous.
6  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 57 ENTRIES / Merry christmas, come on in. on: December 05, 2010 11:08:23 AM
I've had some light green cardstock and a sheet of kraft paper from the box my dishes came in sitting in my paper supplies for awhile now, and Christmas seems the perfect time to use them both.  The door to my apartment is also rather empty, but the previous tenant put a nail in it to hang a wreath, so I decided it needed some decoration for the holidays.  We can't hang anything heavy because our door tends to get shaken whenever the outside door to our unit is closed.  Paper, then, is the perfect medium for making our door welcoming for the holidays, and a little gift box with a merry Christmas wish is now hanging on the door.

I first used the square box template.  I printed it on regular paper, then traced it onto the kraft paper and cardstock.  I used the flower template as well, and printed that one directly onto the cardstock because of the detailed cuts.  With a bit of glue, the box was ready.  A little slit in the back with my handy dandy craft knife let me hang it on the door.  The little bit that says "Merry Christmas" was also cut from the template, but without separating each of the petals for the flower, so that it's a little medallion.

Happy holidays!

Louisville has a bunch, naturally.  Some of the schools have them every year, and you can get a decent crowd at those.  My high school was Christian Academy, and I think just about anyone could participate in their yearly fair, even if they weren't affiliated with the school.  There were, of course, restrictions on what you could sell, but they were pretty loose.

I'm a personal/crafty blogger, too.  It all started with planning my wedding Smiley.  I post at http://littletoiloflove.wordpress.com.  Right now I'm collecting holiday DIY projects from around the internet.

are the meetings still going on?  I won't be moving to Louisville for some time, but when I do, I want to join.  Will this be the best spot to find out in the future, or is there a newsletter or something else?

10  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / Where To Find Things To Recycle / Re: Wool sweaters on: December 05, 2010 10:48:14 AM
If you're near a university/college, see what students are throwing out at the end of the term.  My old dorms had horrible washer/dryer units that shrunk everything, so I lost a few clothes but also found a few sweaters in perfect shape for crafts.
