2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / the confusing turning chain on: July 13, 2006 07:02:10 AM
hello craftsters!
im currently teaching myself to crochet, but ive come along a little bump in the road. or chain. . . hehe. ok. anyway. when making the turning chains, for example in a double crochet stitch, it tells me to make 3 turning chains before inserting my hook into the next chain stitch. Do i do this only at the begining of a row, or every time before i go to make the stitch?
3  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Sexie? SNBN on: November 28, 2004 08:03:29 AM
I started making Sexie from SNBN in a cheap acrylic yarn before buying the good stuff that the pattern calls for, its a good thing too, because i think i may have run into a problem. Part of the first row reads " K2, YO, p2tog ". Then, the directions for YO in the back of the book say knit the first stitch, then  bring the yarn in front of the needles, then knit the next stitch leaving an extra strand across your needle. But, if i had already knit the 2 stitches before doing the YO, do i need to knit a third stitch for the YO? sorry if this is a silly question, but im ending up with all sorts of extra/not enough stitches! thanks -  casey

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / button belts on: December 25, 2003 01:17:09 PM
i dont have a picture up of this yet, but its VERY easy to do. . . i made a " button belt " using a store baught black canvas belt (you could make one, i suppose? ). Then, i made buttons with my button maker and pinned them on. it was simple and looks great. you could even make a bunch of buttons to make a poem around the belt.
