1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Cupcake sihoette cards on: January 16, 2011 06:46:42 AM
I have been house sitting and thus have a lot of time to do lots of crafting. Because it's the beginning of the year I thought I'd start making cards for the year's worth of birthdays (and maybe Christmas cards some time along the way). I try to keep things as simple as possible as i'm still quite new to this. But it was a nice way to keep me entertained and work through my pile of unused paper and ribbon. I designed the silhouette by drawing a stylized cupcake and just cutting around the edges.

2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / First Poppet! 5 images on: July 10, 2010 12:30:41 AM
So here is the final product of my Sunflowersmiles-inspired mad hatter poppet. The original can be found here: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=351153.0. His clothing and bow tie as well as his hat and shoes are not completely the right colour due to using off cuts but i'm hoping the shock of red hair will help identify him!

He was made with upholstery suede and took about a week of intensive work to complete. He has tapestry wool hair that i untwisted and made into pom-pom like tufts and sewed them on. His eyes are teddybear eyes and his nose has a popcorn kernel in it to help keep shape. His hat and shoes are felt while the clothing is off-cut silky type fabric. He is a gift for my boyfriend's birthday since after seeing the movie in 3D recently, i thought he loved it. Unfortunately i mistook his love for the movie for my own love of the movie and he mentioned (after the poppet as already finished!) that he actually didn't like the movie all that much. I am contemplating making another poppet for him but am hoping he likes the poppet for the character and work i put in rather than the movie itself.

Thanks to everyone's help on the poppet along! And especially to Ghillie for the pattern, Sunflowersmiles for the inspiration and Craftewoman who's jacket pattern helped tremendously.

Edit: fixed the pictures, hopefully you can see better now!
