Hey everyone,
LOOOOONG-time lurker, first time poster.  Smiley

Okay, so, I didn't know where to put this exactly, but I figure it qualifies as a trinket. By it, I mean, pinback buttons of course (grammar fail)! If this thread is moved, I won't be offended.

So I draw and cut-out and then handpress my very own buttons. I have about 70 of them sitting in my apartment now. I got a 2.25" button badge-a-minit maker at a garage sale for $15 (for those of you who know the prices of these machines, I bet you're drooling)!

Anyway, here are a few!

Drawn during Statistics 221. Um, oops, ahahaha.

"The Duo" are one-of-a-kinds, and I've already shipped them off to one of my friends left behind in New Jersey.

If you're wondering about the background, this one is just hanging on on my baja sweater, aka "drug rug."

One of mah favorites.  Grin

Just a few of 'em, hanging out. Chillen with a Sharpie and some mylar sheets.

Anyways, thanks for looking!

xoxo Geeartist

7  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: Vegan/Vegetarian resources and information on: August 09, 2010 05:57:33 PM
I love love love monisha bharadwaj's book, vegetarian indian cooking: a regional guide! it's amazing with many beautiful pictures

also, here's a reference...did you know that all cheese is not vegetarian?  rennin or rennet is put into many cheeses to help coagulate it and it's an enzyme found in baby calf stomach...they have to kill the calf to put it in there. there are microbial alternatives to this. many commercial cheeses are just labeled "enzymes" on the package, which could be a number of things- microbial, synthetic, or animal rennet, or even a mixture of them!

i might be the only one here who didn't know this but i just discovered this about 2 months ago... Embarrassed   it kinda sucks...i can't eat out anymore because most restaurants so far don't even know if their cheese is vegetarian or not. no more pizza... but i'm sooo glad i found this out

but here's a list of cheeses that you can find in a grocery store that are truely vegetarian:

they have links to more resources, too
