1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: iPod Cozies on: July 01, 2005 07:35:37 PM
Slightly off topic: Has anyone tried that 'free Ipods' thing?
Not a scam!  I got mine :-) (actually, I got the iTunes $250 gift cert instead, since I already had an iPod, but still... it's real!)

Thanks yes, they were end-of-year-holiday gifts. No money :-)

Yes!  The pattern comes for circular, but then tells you how to convert it to flat.  I haven't tried it that way yet, though I might just to try it out on the next pair.

I've made 5 pairs, with orders for 2 more - I love them!  The pattern can be made flat or round...
3 of my pairs are shown on my blog here http://www.nocturne.com/KsKnit/2005/02/solstice-gifties.html - they are so great, and a pair can be done in a weekend! Plus you felt them to fit.  They're great, and you leave the soles as felt (fun to skate in), or put suede soles on them (most places that sell the pattern also sell the soles).

Done! I put a picture up here: http://www.nocturne.com/KsKnit/2005/01/not-blocked.html - it'll be blocked tomorrow and I'll finally wear it next week  Grin

I love that cat - it was my first choice for a Shag sweater for me, too! I still want to make one for myself now that I've moved to thinner yarns. The problem is that you have to use a pretty small-gauge yarn to do the cat, because it has so many small narrow bits that don't translate well to bulky yarns. Post pictures when you're done!
7  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Liv Knitalone on: January 18, 2005 10:53:15 PM

Finished all the pieces, attached the neckline, inset the sleeves, and started seaming it!  With any luck, picture in a day or two Cheesy

Can't wait till it's blocked - right now it's a little snug and short, even though I made it the right size, and used a slightly larger needle, and my gauge crept up. But when I damped down the swatch, it did bloom a bit. So cross your fingers for me!

I did find out that I don't like actually knitting the yarn as much as I thought I did... it's tough to see what you're doing, and it's even worse during the seaming up. But it's so soft and flowing that I think it's worth it.
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Favorite knitting magazine? on: January 12, 2005 12:34:33 PM
Definitely Rebecca - I  prefer the European knits to the American ones. Or to crib from the Tempting Knitalong thread - they have patterns I actually want to wear, not just knit.

Front is done, shoulders are joined, neckband is done, and I made it through the cabling on the first sleeve.

I finished the back last night on the train - put the final stitches on the holder just as I approached my stop!

I had to start the front 3 times this morning (extra stitch showed up somewhere, then I got the cable chart backwards on a row *arg*). I think it's right now, but I'm going to have to make a more comprehensive chart so I can keep track of the "at the same time" stuff.

The more I work with the Silky Wool, the more I like it.
