1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / another last minute pirate costume on: February 23, 2012 04:48:15 AM
I made this a few weeks ago the day before DS went to a pirate/mermaid story time at the state library. Luckily my stash is far too big and there were enough pirate-y things tucked away!

The pants are just my favourite basic pants pattern which I then turned the bottoms up on and made the zig zags, did a lot of snipping and topstitched them to hold. They're a bit rough but that's pirates for you Tongue

The vest was from a tute from made which was awesome http://www.danamadeit.com/2008/07/tutorial-pirate-life-costume.html, and we added some pirate-y buttons (cause that's all I had).
He was pretty stoked.
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Ruffled Apron on: December 09, 2010 09:11:55 PM
I made this apron yesterday for my friend (she loves cooking and tea  Cheesy) but I really want to keep it now! It's so fun to wear!

3  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / how to stop bias binding rippling? on: October 27, 2010 09:29:48 PM
I'm sure there must be a thread about this somewhere, but I can't find it!

How do you stop bias binding/tape from rippling when you sew it?
I'm trying to finished the edges of a chalk board mat, so it's really stiff to work with, and I can't seem to get the tape to stop shifting!

Any hints or pointers in the right direction?

Thanks xx
4  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / what fabric for this toddler boys pattern? on: July 13, 2010 02:22:19 AM
I found this pattern at the op-shop for a dollar, and i think it's quite cute!

I want to make the middle one, the white suit but i don't know what sort of fabric/pattern to use for it. I have some gorgeous grey linen with a small print, but of course, not enough!

What would you use?

ETA: i'm in Australia but I'm more than happy to order online, just need some inspiration on what to use!
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / new baby bunting on: July 09, 2010 06:54:27 PM
we've just had a new baby arrive in the family!!

Her name is Leni, and she is gorgeous (from the pictures, we're visiting today) and she's very much the longed for baby so it's just wonderful Smiley
so my cousin and i (and by that, i mean mainly me lol) made her some bunting yesterday. it was our first go at this sort of thing, and at appliqueing, i think it turned out okay, i do like the colours (we were aiming for not-over-the-top-girly-but-still-nice), though the I does sort of disappear a little. the background doesn't help though, sorry!

6  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / new here! on: June 21, 2010 03:48:34 AM
hey, i'm Emma, from australia  Grin

I have a 16 month old terror cherub who is a slight hinderance in sewing with pins, scissors and the like but I've just set up a 'space' for me (inside a playpen!) so I can get back into crafting!

I mainly sew, not expertly, but I'm learning. I dabble in paper craft, and can knit (slowly!) no idea how to crochet but i think i should learn.

I'm currently on holidays from uni, so i'm getting a few birthday/christmas projects in before i start again! Planning on crafting most things for christmas this year  Smiley

Big thank you for all the inspiration i've got already!
