1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Miniature Harry Potter Bookcase Ornaments on: December 10, 2017 08:07:55 AM
I made a couple of ornaments featuring miniatures this last week. Harry Potter themed. These were given away to friends, but I was so pleased with them that I took photos to remember them by. This was my first attempt at making such a small piece of furniture. I'll definitely be making more of these now, and probably overstuffing the next few.

The bookcase measures six inches tall by three inches wide.
Each one of the books has real pages, a few were premade dollhouse books, but the themed ones I printed covers for and made.
The Deathly Hallows symbol, dragon, and mini cauldron are all charms with the loops snipped off. The wand is a half of a toothpick. The pumpkin juice bottle is a cola bottle with the top filed down and a polymer clay pumpkin added to the top. I didn't have orange paint I liked, so it's painted with nail polish. The chocolate frog card box is polymer clay, as is the card (I should probably have just used cut paper, oops. Harry's face on the chocolate frog card is a sticker I had from one of those movie still collection booklets. The crystal ball is a tiny clear marble on a bead cap. The inkwell is a bead cap with a smaller bead glued on top, and the quill is a real feather.

The book inside the clear ball measures two and a quarter inches tall and has real pages that can be written in, the ball opens up.

I have received and posted pics in the gallery. And my partner has received her package now. Queue the anxiety.

I recieved my package from whatthepuck day before yesterday. So sorry to get these up late, it was a busy couple of days. (Is it summer yet?)
I apologize for the terrible lighting, I couldn't find my camera and ended up using my phone to take the photos so that it didn't take any longer to post to the gallery. On to the package...

I opened it up to find a fantastic little wooden book box with an owl shape on the front.

The spine slides open...

And inside, was a matching banner.

I absolutely love it. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to hang it up along the wall in the dining room. And the book will fit in nicely on my shelf in the living room. It all matches the decor in my house, because this is the sort of thing that stays up all year here.
Thank you!

So many clever things in this gallery, really love them all.

Also now that I've seen the potted Rosemary, I feel like my kitchen needs some additions to the herbs in the windowsill.

And I've received <3 , but I was at my bookclub and dr appointments yesterday so I didn't get pics posted. I'll get those up sometime this evening.

Send my package for whatthepuck off this morning, it is expected to arrive on Monday!
Fingers crossed that I used enough bubble wrap.

So I finished my project tonight and boxed it up. Technically it was finished a few days ago, but part of it didn't come out quite the way I wanted and I attempted to do it a second time in a new way. In the end I decided to just box up both attempts and call it an interchangeable part.  Also, why didn't I think about the bulk of it sooner? This box is stupidly large and weighs so little lol.
Anyway, I'll be having my lovely husband dropping it off at the post office on his way to work.

There is one particular thing I thought would be an easy find, and it is just ruining my life by not existing. One more trip in search of it before I give up and fake it.....I really don't want to.

I hope you find whatever it is you are looking for. Also, I'm really curious to know what should exist but doesn't lol.

I should be sending out on time on Friday. I have one thing left to do and it requires a trip to the hardware store first. I'd hoped to send early (not to mention post online more), but the universe is conspiring to suck all my time from me, and let's just say that I'm more than ready for school to be over so we can enjoy summer break.
