1  Miniature Harry Potter Bookcase Ornaments in Completed Projects by TimetravelingArchaeologist on: December 10, 2017 08:07:55 AM
I made a couple of ornaments featuring miniatures this last week. Harry Potter themed. These were given away to friends, but I was so pleased with them that I took photos to remember them by. This was my first attempt at making such a small piece of furniture. I'll definitely be making more of these now, and probably overstuffing the next few.

The bookcase measures six inches tall by three inches wide.
Each one of the books has real pages, a few were premade dollhouse books, but the themed ones I printed covers for and made.
The Deathly Hallows symbol, dragon, and mini cauldron are all charms with the loops snipped off. The wand is a half of a toothpick. The pumpkin juice bottle is a cola bottle with the top filed down and a polymer clay pumpkin added to the top. I didn't have orange paint I liked, so it's painted with nail polish. The chocolate frog card box is polymer clay, as is the card (I should probably have just used cut paper, oops. Harry's face on the chocolate frog card is a sticker I had from one of those movie still collection booklets. The crystal ball is a tiny clear marble on a bead cap. The inkwell is a bead cap with a smaller bead glued on top, and the quill is a real feather.

The book inside the clear ball measures two and a quarter inches tall and has real pages that can be written in, the ball opens up.

2  Re: Everyday is Halloween Gallery SO May 20th in The Swap Gallery by TimetravelingArchaeologist on: May 25, 2016 03:02:33 PM
I recieved my package from whatthepuck day before yesterday. So sorry to get these up late, it was a busy couple of days. (Is it summer yet?)
I apologize for the terrible lighting, I couldn't find my camera and ended up using my phone to take the photos so that it didn't take any longer to post to the gallery. On to the package...

I opened it up to find a fantastic little wooden book box with an owl shape on the front.

The spine slides open...

And inside, was a matching banner.

I absolutely love it. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to hang it up along the wall in the dining room. And the book will fit in nicely on my shelf in the living room. It all matches the decor in my house, because this is the sort of thing that stays up all year here.
Thank you!

3  Re: Doctor Who Craftalong 2012 in Craftalongs by TimetravelingArchaeologist on: February 19, 2012 08:34:14 PM
My gaming dice need a new home and I had a little magnetic closure cardboard box in my craft stash. So what better place to hide things than in Rivers diary?

Its still somewhat of a work in progress. I havent finished the paint on it or sealing it. But Im fairly happy with it. Its all cardboard and scrapbook paper put together with hot glue and colored with cheap acrylic paints. Its 3x4 inches.

I think I might add some pages to it once it dries.

After seeing an image on tumblr, my 6 year old son wanted Doctor Who Valentines to take to school for his class party.
So we snagged the image from here http://areyoumarriedriver.tumblr.com/post/17569775787/the-kids-valentines
and recolored it and changed some text.

We printed them on cardstock that was white on one side and tardis blue on the other. And them of course added a sweetie to each one.

I'm now even more in love with my child, if that was possible lol.

5  Freeze Paper Tardis Hoodie in Stenciling: Completed Projects by TimetravelingArchaeologist on: December 18, 2011 05:25:25 AM
I ordered my brother a sonic screwdriver set for Christmas and decided that he needed something to go with it.
I've seen several really nice designs online but didn't see a stencil that was quite right, so I sketched out a stencil based off of a bunch of other stencils I found online and came up with this one. The wording is small and done freehand so it didn't turn out that great. However, overall I am pretty happy with the result here.

Forgive the cruddy cell phone pics, one of my kids broke my camera Sad

6  Re: Game of Thrones (Song of Fire and Ice) swap? in New Swap Theme Ideas by TimetravelingArchaeologist on: August 05, 2011 02:14:38 PM
I thought that pic was Jason! lol
While this swap isn't my thing I had to click and figure out what it was because the thumbnail image was him. I once hit him with my double stroller turning a corner and then to my absolute horror my son tripped him as he was running past. The fact that I yelled my son's name made it worse lol. His name is Ronan, which is the same name as Jason's character from Atlantis.
But he was really lovely and spent some time chatting with me and took several pictures with us.

7  Re: Decked Out for Deathly Hallows Part II GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by TimetravelingArchaeologist on: July 15, 2011 11:45:40 PM
I hope that nobody minds if I post this here as well. It wasn't part of the swap, I made it for myself. But it turned out so well I had to share.

I didn't wear this to the midnight show because I was dressed up as Bellatrix in my overly complicated corseted ensemble with 800 feet of awesome hair that wasn't mine, figured I get some more use out of it since I bough it solely for a convention lol. But I did wear this to the second showing I went to today with friends.

It's a freezer paper stencil painted with black acrylic paint. I dabbed the paint on that way to match it to the sleeves. It looks better in person.

I received an amazing swap package from Whats_Her_Name  today.  And let me tell you! Anyone who gets her for a partner in future swaps is super lucky! Shes got skillz!
Sorry for the pic overload.

A lovely Pair of S.P.E.W. socks. Though I'm not so sure I'd free a house elf. With small children in the house they are needed lol. (noticed the sticker after I took the pic)
These will be getting lots of use when I sit at my desk because I have an a/c vent next to my feet. Also on trips home to Alaska.

An AMAZING! purse to help me blend in with the Muggles while on the run. That was brilliant because my current dragon hide bag is a dead give away for a Witch. I promptly put everything I normally carry with me inside and it all fits nicely. So no worries about not being able to add an extension charm.

and the inside

Next up was a stationary set. I don't know if I can bring myself to write on these lol. They are awesome!
Note cards (with envelopes)

Notebook with my real name on it Smiley  I forgot to take pics of the inside, but the paper is lined with a faded image that matches the cover.

And some lovely Chocolate Frogs. Made by Elves with only the best Chocolate lol. I adored these and shared with a friend of mine this evening while watching the movie in 3D. They came in handy because I'm pretty sure we were surrounded by Dementors since we were feeling pretty sad with all the deaths.

All together now...

Thanks for the awesome swap!

9  Re: Harry Potter Dotee Swap - GALLERY Send out Friday July 8 in The Swap Gallery by TimetravelingArchaeologist on: July 03, 2011 12:30:08 PM
I have received my first Dotee from Pollyprissypants and I am in love. She has sent a lovely little frowny faced Snape! He's been hanging out on my computer desk glaring at me Smiley

Sorry that the body color is washed out, he's rather sallow skinned lol.

10  Fun with sugar in CHALLENGE 63 ENTRIES by TimetravelingArchaeologist on: June 08, 2011 08:51:09 PM
Fun with sugar! Special FX makeup. Broken glass from explosion embedded in my "victim's" face.

Broken glass shards and bloodwork all made with a combination of sugar, corn syrup, butterscotch syrup, chocolate syrup, food dyes and gelatin. Plus a little imagination and no budget lol.
