1  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Kaonashi (No-Face) from Spirited Away on: June 04, 2015 09:23:37 AM
Hello, everyone!

Not sure how many of you have watched the film Spirited Away produced by Studio Ghibli, but here's an amigurumi of Kaonashi (No-face) which I recently crocheted and wrote about on my blog:

... It's the Knitting No-Face from near the end of the movie!  Grin

More photos on my blog and Flickr for those interested (links below).
2  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Meet Rachat! on: October 05, 2011 03:36:11 PM

I recently took some photos of Rachat, a crocheted amigurumi rat that I made for my blog, and I thought I'd share it with the Craftster community! He has a huge head, around or even larger than the size of mines (I have a photo for comparison on my blog if anyone's interested). Made him using a size 8mm hook for the body as well as for his male kimono, and a size 4.5mm hook for his little black nose. The yarn that I used was 100% acrylamide.  Cheesy

3  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Third Prize!!! Strawberry Clock Hamster Garden on: June 05, 2011 06:35:07 PM
Hi everyone,

Sorry for the delay, but here is the link to the Contest Winners Project page incase anyone is still interested: http://www.vannaschoice.com/2011Winners.html

I've been away from crocheting for the past little while and I just recently got back to making projects. Again, sorry for the delay!
I have to say, that Christmas Chess Set looks awesome!! Totally tells me that I still have a lot to learn to improve my skills for crochet.  Tongue

During the end of January this year, I entered myself into the 3rd annual Vanna's Choice contest and I won third prize!!!  Grin It was a knit/crochet contest, and I really did not hope for much since I felt like I had rushed the project a lot.  I was notified during April that I was selected as a finalist for the contest and just this past Thursday, I received an email telling me that I got third prize!  Considering how this was the very first contest I have ever entered in my life, I was very happy indeed.  Cheesy Anyways, enough said, here's what I made:

I call it The Strawberry Clock Hamster Garden. =) Some of you may recognize the two pom pom hamsters on it since I had previously posted them in another Craftster post, I think.  This project measures approximately 14" x 11" x 9", made free-style.

Anyways, just thought I'd share my little project with the Craftster community.  Smiley  For anyone who's interested in knowing more about my project, you can read more and view more photos of it on my blog: http://jcy-works.blogspot.com/2011/06/third-prize-strawberry-clock-hamster.html

Hope you all like my project!!! =)

I believe the contest website will be posting up photos of the projects made by all winners later this month or in July. I will add the link to it to this post once I see them up! (I'm very curious of the projects made by the other winners, too ~  Tongue )
4  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / What's Easter without an Easter Bunny? ;) on: April 22, 2011 01:39:47 AM

It's Easter this weekend, and so I thought to myself... what's better than posting up a crocheted bunny to celebrate this special occasion of the year?  =P

Happy Easter 2011 to the Craftster community!!  Cheesy
5  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Simply Pom Poms* (fastest and easiest way to make amigurumis, imo) on: March 05, 2011 01:01:23 PM
So, it was snowing again a couple of days ago from where I live, and I thought that it would be a great idea to make some use of the snow before they were all gone.  The first thing that came to my mind was taking some white scenery photos with my completed amigurumis!  However, since I have been quite busy with school work, I haven't had the time to actually work on any new projects, and so what I did was...

I made pom poms!  Grin
I think pom poms are really the fastest and easiest way to make amigurumis ~ they're really awesome when you want to make something within a short period of time yet still have them look all cute and nice.  Each of these took me at most only 10min to make.

More photos of my pom poms on my blog and flickr if anyone's interested (see below) Smiley

6  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Christmas band! XD on: December 25, 2010 06:19:55 PM

There's a Christmas party held at my house every year, and so to decorate my house a bit, I decided to crochet a music band!

Kronos the bear in the middle was made using a similar pattern as the Mochi Bear featured in another craftster post of mine ~ The one on the left is Domo.  As for the one on the right with the big heart on its tummy... I call it Tami! (it's supposed to be a squirrel  Wink )

Here's another photo of the great band:

Anyways, I'm back to helping my family prep for the food tonight ~ just wanted to post up some photos of my little creations before Christmas is over. Smiley  Cheers!

** more photos on my blog and flickr if anyone's interested!  Links underneath~

7  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Totoros for Christmas Present! =) on: December 20, 2010 01:45:50 PM
I've previously made one of these blue Totoros before in another craftster post, but I had to make a few more of it due to requests from my friends and family members  Tongue  They requested it quite a few months ago, but I've been busy with school so I didn't have time to make them until now.  In fact, one of them was supposed to be a birthday present for a friend 2 months ago, so it's going to be a VERY late bday present... I guess now it'll be more of a Christmas present than a birthday one  Sad

And here they are~

Do you think they look the same? I tried to make all of them look alike, but I kept forgetting to write down the pattern every time I finished one, so they all ended up being made using a slightly different pattern.  Undecided

And off they go into the mail box!! =)

For more photos of my Totoros, visit my blog or flickr pages below~  Cheesy

Merry soon-to-come Christmas everyone!!

8  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Mochi Bear **with link to free pattern** on: November 27, 2010 08:43:45 PM

Mochi: The sight of a white winter is dazzling.

But it's dampening when you're waiting for a bus in the cold...

Especially when it's snowing this hard.

Winter's approaching.  I hope everyone is dressed accordingly to the weather! =)

I've made a pattern for my Mochi Bear incase anyone is interested!  Smiley
Here's the link: http://jcy-works.blogspot.com/2010/11/mochi-bear.html

It's my first time writing up a pattern so there may be errors... hopefully there won't be a lot ~ comments appreciated! Also feel free to ask any questions~ Grin

9  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Amigurumi on the Hikes! on: August 31, 2010 01:16:57 PM
I'm not an experienced hiker, but I've been hiking quite a bit lately with my friends.  I have to say.. it gets VERY tiring especially when you have to climb around using all arms and legs just to balance yourself.

Recently, I've been to Garibaldi Lake, a hiking place just before Whistler in BC where glacier waters fill up the lake, making it freezing cold all year round.  As one of the many crochet-addictees on craftster, I decided to bring one of my completed projects along with me on the 22km hike!

The doll is call Anpanman, a japanese cartoon character that's supposed to be a superman with its head made up of bread (or something like that) ~~ it was made using very thin mohair yarn and felt for the eyes, eyebrows, belts, etc.  There's actually a cape to it on its back although you can't really see it in this picture!

For more pictures of my hike, visit my blog at http://jcy-works.blogspot.com to see my full post for the doll.  The views from the hike are truly amazing.  Feel free to leave comments! =)
10  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / 2010 FIFA World Cup: Which team are you cheering for? on: July 03, 2010 02:11:34 AM
So, I previously crocheted a soccer ball for my friend's birthday present, but never had the chance to take any nice photos of it before I gave it out.  It's now the season of the FIFA World Cup, and I decided to borrow it back from my friend for around a week so that I can take photos of the soccer ball and maybe post it up on my blog before the World Cup season is over! XD (I know... kind of mean to take the present back, but I really wanted to post up some photos of it!).  I added a vuvuzela for it as well as a flag for the team I'm cheering for: Spain!

Back at home, I was watching the news on the Chinese channel in Vancouver (Fairchild TV), when my brother suggested me to send in my soccer ball photo to the Fairchild TV channel for a chance to get selected and get viewed in the "Phototips" section of the news.  Phototips is a short section in the Fairchild TV news where the news broadcaster pick out a few photos among the many photos they receive each day from the audience, and they introduce them on TV.

Hesitating at first, I decided to send in a photo this morning.  When evening arrived and the Phototips section of the news was finally being aired, my family and I sat down and watched.  The first few photos were all about fireworks from Canada Day.  My family started joking around, saying how fireworks are so much prettier than a ball of yarn, so of course the broadcaster would just choose the fireworks over my soccer ball photo (in a friendly way ~ my family and I like to joke around with each other a lot ^^) Then all of a sudden, THERE IT WAS!!  My soccer ball, being shown as the last photo selected for today's news! HAHAH.. XD My family was literally laughing like crazy, saying things like "OMG, that ball actually got selected!!"  We were laughing so hard that none of us were able to hear what the host was saying when my photo was being shown!  Luckily the news was re-played later tonight so I had a chance to record it!  I don't have a video recorder at home though, so I had to use my camera.. it's not the best quality because for some reason, when you record a TV screen using a camera, you get these black strips moving across the screen in the recorded version.

Here's the photo I sent in to Fairchild TV:

Here's the link to the video clip I recorded (it's in Cantonese though, because the news was from a Chinese channel... Sorry to those who don't understand Chinese!).  To skip over the other selected photos, just fastforward to 1min 6sec into the video.

You can also see the video from my blog at: http://jcy-works.blogspot.com/2010/07/2010-fifa-world-cup-which-team-are-you.html

Funny night. Tototally wasn't expecting my soccer ball to appear on the news!
