11  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: What are you working on? on: June 27, 2010 03:23:18 PM
i have a quilt on the frame for quilting that is a gift for a friend.

i'm still making Dear Jane blocks and won't be done until the end of the year.

i make 2 handbags a week in preparation for the christmas selling season.

i'm hand painting some center designs for quilts and hand dyeing some fabric.

i'm a fan of Juki. they make quality machines at a reasonable price.

i have the TL98Q on a Grace Pinnacle Quilt Frame this machine has a 9 inch throat

i also have the F600 that i use for piecing and the throat space is the same, about 9 inches.
13  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / My first Project Post [Flower Power Quilt] on: June 25, 2010 09:33:46 AM
i thought i'd share my most recent quilt with the group.

i made this quilt for our cousin who graduated college this year. the university colors are white, black, and red and she's just so cute and hip and i thought this design would suit her personality and remind her of times at university.

its called Flower Power

an art store is the best place to find what you're looking for, i purchased mine at AI Friedman.

here's a link to an online store that has it - its called a yardstick compass

for me, its more important that the free motion foot be clear instead of metal - this way nothing blocks my line of sight..

then after that it really makes no difference to me if its an open or closed foot because my line of sight isn't blocked.

i use the Big Foot for free motion. i have one high shank and one low shank since i have both styles of sewing machines.
