1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Jackalope & Scissors for Pupper on: September 24, 2011 05:59:48 PM
I love the jackalope and the colours you used for it!  Cheesy And those scissors are seriously TINY - you must have good eyes and a lot of patience! Well done, you!  Grin

Unfortunately I have neither Smiley but thanks!

3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Jackalope & Scissors for Pupper on: September 23, 2011 04:47:47 PM
'K, so this was my 1st swap & I was a tad nervous about the whole thing.  After much Pinterest stalking, I came up with the idea to do a jackalope.  then I got the message that Pupper likes spring colors & was secretly wishing for a pair of Victorian scissors.  While the idea of stitching a 6" pair of scissors was unappealing, I knew I had to do it when I saw a tiny 3" hoop at the craft store.

"Enough yammering Beka, show us the goods!"

action shot:

So the little guy's kinda pissed that he got caught.  Did you know that they can be quite vicious?

closer up:

And the scissors:

Some of those stitches are *tiny*.  One little thread width apart on the fabric tiny.

C&C welcome.
4  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: digestive system! on: September 23, 2011 04:35:58 PM
Almost four years ago I started an appliqued quilt square of the digestive system for an awareness quilt for Crohn's Disease.  I did it for my husband who had suffered with the disease for 21 years.  I started it in September, 2007 and then put it away, because it wasn't going exactly as I wanted it to.  On October 11, 2007 I brought it out again and finished it.  I showed it to Steve and we both laughed about it which was great, because I knew he liked it.
Six hours later, I lost my husband suddenly and unexpectedly to a coronary.  I know it sounds weird, but you can't imagine how therapeutic it was to have made that quilt block.

That's heartbreaking.  So glad you knew he liked it before.

OP:  LOVE the hoop!  As a nurse who begs to get the colon resection patients, this is right up my alley!

Here's the hoop Pupper sent:

LOVE the pattern!  And it's done in metallic thread <3
I'm still trying to find the perfect place to display it that'll keep my toddler's grubby hands off.

I'll go ahead & post since my partner received.

Pupper had a Jackalope folder on her Pinterest & said she likes spring colors, so....

I think he looks mighty pissed that he was caught.  If y'all know anything about those ornery beasts, ya know they're hard to catch!

But then I had to go & do this:

just for shits & giggles.
Pupper said she wished for a pair of Victorian scissors.  The idea of doing a 6" pair of scissors bored be a little, but when I saw this tiny hoop & knew it was perfect for a pair!  Plus, it's something I would never do on my own, so I welcomed the challenge.
9  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Embroidery Hoopla R6 - Back to Basics! (SU Closed, SO 9/12/11) on: September 11, 2011 02:42:30 AM
Managed to finish my hoop yesterday after watching Firefly and Serenity  Cheesy just need to put on the backing and I'm sorted  Grin

I always find it interesting to hear what others watch while stitching.

I've watched a variety of things: The Other Bolyn Girl; Alexander; the A&E mini series Pride & Prejudice; Futurama; various Star Trek movies...

Love The Other Boleyn Girl & P&P!  Great movies!  I watched Anthony Bourdain & Dexter, but mostly sat in my Carolina Room & listened to Disney park music on live3365.com
