Thanks all!  CLM that might have been the beets that look like eggplant.  And I love jicama.

Thanks!  I think it tastes a little like broccoli stems.  It can be cooked like a potato (sauted, roasted, fried, etc.) as well as raw.  Delicious chopped into matchsticks and added raw into salads.  We are growing quite a few this year.

4  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Roasted Spring Vegetables with Balsamic and Blue Cheese on: May 23, 2018 10:36:03 AM
Spring vegetables are finally here!  I made a roasted vegetable medley with balsamic dressing for dinner tonight.

My inspiration came from harvesting these beautiful kohlrabi, carrots and beets this morning.

Rather than peeling the beets, I drizzled them with a little olive oil and wrapped them in foil.

After about 40 minutes in the oven at 350F the skins slide right off.  Super easy!

I sliced the carrots and peeled kohlrabi and tossed them with a few sliced garlic cloves, a little olive oil and a splash of balsamic vinegar.  They were roasted along side the beets.

To finish, I sprinkled on blue cheese and made a dressing of 3T. Olive oil, 3T. Balsamic vinegar and 1T. Dijon mustard.

7  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / ASIA / Miniatures shops in Asia? on: May 15, 2018 10:41:26 AM
I am going to traveling to a few places in Asia next year and have a question for you.  I purchase a lot of miniatures from Asia that take a long time to arrive here.  Things like mini tea sets and china, furniture, household items, etc.  Since I am heading that way, I am wondering if anyone knows of shops that sell minis?  The places we are visiting include Denpasar, Semarang, Phuket, Singapore, Port Klang and Colombo.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
