1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: 2017 Ongoing ATC Swap Discussion Thread on: August 11, 2017 05:21:59 PM

I'm Michele! I use to be obsessed with Craftster. Somehow live got crazy: graduated from college, moved from NYC to Colorado, bought a house, etc. I've been away since 2011 but just rediscovered it. Before I left, I participated in a swap and had so much fun. I'd love to get back in.

I do find the whole swap rule to be a bit confusing, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it.

I'm so excited to be back!

5  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / how did they do this? (leather and crochet skirt) on: April 02, 2011 11:04:45 PM
hi Smiley

this is a vintage skirt that was purchased on etsy. it's circa1970s i believe.
i wanted to make something using a similar crochet technique but don't understand how this is built. mostly how the crochet parts work around each leather piece but then connect so seamlessly.

does anyone have any idea on this type of crochet technique or what kind of crochet stitches they are?

i'm also almost done, though there are a few things here and there i'd like to adjust and another piece that still needs to be created.

9  UNITED STATES / Colorado / Re: colorado springs on: March 12, 2011 12:26:39 PM
I've lived almost my entire life in Colorado Springs, but last fall moved to Brooklyn, NY.
My mom and I are huge crafters and so here's a list of all our favourite places:

American Classics Marketplace - Constitution and Academy. There's an awesome yarn vendor who sells books, needles, hooks, magazines and tons of unique yarns in the very North West corner of the place (in the more warehousey area).

Ruth's Stitchery - near the intersection of Barnes and Austin Bluffs. It's next to where the DMV is or atleast use to be. It's an embroiders paradise! My mom loves that place but it's a bit expensive.

Tandy Leather - on the east side of Academy just before the Maizeland intersection. They sell mostly leather goods. But if you're making a purse or need awesome clasps and things, it's the place to go!

and if you're ever in Denver. The *MOST* awesome fabric/felting/yarn place is Fancy Tiger. I miss Fancy Tiger SOOO MUCH! Sad
10  New York / New York: NYC and Long Island / get paid crocheting on: March 12, 2011 10:20:47 AM
If anyone living in the NYC area is interested in getting paid for crocheting (jewelry), please let me know. It's a great way to make extra money and 100% legit. Most of us work with the designer at her studio (Carroll Gardens) or from home. You can work your own schedule, do it during your free time after work or on weekends. We just need some extra help!!!

It's great if you have experience crocheting with a 1.5mm hook.

Let me know if you're interested! Smiley
