21  I heart your mind in Needlework: Completed Projects by EllaRain on: December 24, 2011 06:32:51 AM
These were for a recent swap. I used my partner's love of anatomy as an excuse to learn a bunch of new stitches.

The heart:

The brain:

22  Re: Advent Calendar Swap 2011 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by EllaRain on: December 23, 2011 04:39:29 PM
I have not heard from my partner is some time so I thought I would just post some pics of the things I sent.

The calendar itself was a wreath.

The compartment for each day was covered by a little numbered pillow

A small clickable picture of my bought items:

heart and brain patches (My partner studied anatomy so I stitched these up for her)

Mini Christmas cross-stich kits

A Grinch Ornament

A monster change purse

A hollow egg ornament (not sure why this picture ended up being so small)

A "Fallout" patch for her boyfriend

A dragon stuffie

two skull ornaments (her wist was full of skulls)

I am kind of ridiculously proud of the back of the day of the dead skull (though I do not seem to have gotten a very good picture of it).

Last two crafts: a wavy pleats zip from my partners wist

and the Christmas craft was this large pleated purse.

I was so excited when I found this fabric. It has skulls (which my partner indicated that she loves) with hot pink bows (she listed hot pink as one of her favorite colors). The zip above is lined in the skull fabric so that the two items coordinate.
Merry Christmas.

23  Snowflake Mobile in Winter Holidays by EllaRain on: December 11, 2011 06:50:58 PM

My new place has rather high ceilings.  I created this snowflake mobile to hang over our table. Hopefully it is high enough that the cat will not bat at it.  Wink She seemed very interested when I was making it.

24  Re: Advent Calendar Swap 2011 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by EllaRain on: November 23, 2011 01:29:21 PM
Looks like I better save myself a spot. Wink
I got my camera battery charged and it is time to upload pictures.

Check out the the beautiful calendar tracethekat sent.

They are books  Grin (did I mention I love to read)
And inside are a whole bunch of little compartments closed with really cute scrapbooking paper.

Isn't that such a clever idea!?!

Day 1: Chocolates mmmm

Day 2: An elephant key chain straight off of my wist

 I just love him!

Day 3:  Some Werther's Originals (one of my favorite of candies)

Day 4: More chocolates

Day 5: A Santa ornament.

The picture just does not do this one justice. It is a combination of beads (which are much shiner in real life) and cross stitch and it is just gorgeous. I feel quite spoiled.

Day 6: Wrether's Orignials

Day 7: Christmasy Chocolates

Day 8: A "Ho Ho Ho" Block. The painting on this is really nice.

Day 9: The most adorable little tetris stitch holders. These are just like the ones on my wist only cuter because of their tinyness  Wink

Day 10: chocolates

Day 11: Popsicle sticks and toothpicks

Day 12: A brain slug (my hubby was excited to get this one)

Day 13: tetris magnets (so addictive to reorganize)

Day 14: cross-stitch supplies

Day 15: hardener

Day 16: more tetris magnets (here is the complete set).

Day 17: Chocolates (these never seem to last long enough to make it into a picture  Wink)

Day 18: Resin

Day 19: Plastic cups - I see now that I am slowly acquiring a resin making kit (suddenly the toothpicks, popsicle sticks and hardener make sense).  Resin is one of those crafts that I have been wanting to try so the realization was exciting!

Day 20: Mini cactus pincushion  Cheesy

Day 21: Colored pencils

Day 22: Chocolate

Day 23: Chocolates

Day 24: Little bear. (so cute and soft)

I got a collection of things for day 25. A santa cross-stitch. A cool wooden ornament and my favorite a giant ball stuffie. Something about his big adorable eyes makes me what to pick him up and throw him around  Grin.

25  Re: I need new earrings! Swap -Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by EllaRain on: July 28, 2011 01:04:13 PM
Wow this gallery had just exploded with awesome earrings  Cheesy. The heart and bow pair that stegorawrus made are so sweet and I am loving the hammered spirals timpani~jax created. Plus dopey_44, I love the lock and key earrings you sent. I think earrings that go together but do not match can be so fun.

Anyway,  I received from Mrs.LindsayLoo and am here to add to the awesomeness. I have been totally spoiled with not three, not four but seven beautiful pairs of earrings. Honestly, I do not know how she even fit all of these earrings into the tiny box she sent Grin.
On to the pics!

Usually I pick out clothing to wear and then pick a pair of earrings to match, but since I got these earrings I find myself choosing the other way round  Grin.  I am wearing the pink rose quartzs one now. I wore the cupcakes yesterday and intend to wear the cameos tomorrow.
They are all so nice that it is hard to pick a favorite, but I think it may be the purple ones. They are made from amythst and flouride and are just lovey (I could not get a picture that did them justice).

Thank-you Mrs.LindsayLoo for such a wonderful package!

26  Sonic in Needlework: Completed Projects by EllaRain on: July 21, 2011 08:56:13 AM
I made this for my hubby's birthday. He is a big sonic fan.

I wanted it to be a surprise so I tried not to let him know I was working on it. I would work on it while watching TV and hide it under a blanket when he came into the room. He must have thought I was very lazy for all the time I spent just sitting in front of the TV with a blanket on my lap, but I was able to fool him and make it a surprise Cheesy.

27  Re: One Tiny Stuffie Swap--Round 5 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by EllaRain on: May 10, 2011 09:50:47 PM
Homerof2 made me the most perfect little turtle. Prepare to be wowed.

Isn't he adorable  Grin. He has so much character that I could only imagine him in pictures where he was actively exploring the outside.

A top view of the shell.

And stopping for a snack Wink

Thank-you so much Homerof2. I just love him Grin

28  Baby Sweater and Booties in Knitting: Completed Projects by EllaRain on: May 06, 2011 05:38:17 PM
I knitted these as a baby shower present for a friend of mine who is expecting. The sweater is Knitting Pure and Simple's Easy Baby Cardigan . I liked it because there was no seaming.

I had some left over yarn so I made the booties.

I made the sweater in the 12 month size because I wanted it to fit during the winter, but since I did not remember ever seeing a 12 month old in booties, they are smaller. Hopefully, it is OK that the sweater and booties match but will probably not fit the baby at the same time  Tongue

29  Brocade Purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by EllaRain on: March 08, 2011 01:27:21 PM
I made this bag as part of the make a purse and fill it swap
Purses are one of my favorite things to make and I had a lot of fun putting this one together. This purse is made from an original pattern and it has a magnetic closure.

The front of the bag: It has two outside pockets on the front.

The back:

The inside lining: The inside has a zippered, pocket that was padded. It was designed to hold my partner's eReader.

A little picture of show off the strap. The strap has a little slider so that it can be adjusted and worn as a shoulder purse or an across the body bag.

30  Buddha Pendant in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by EllaRain on: March 06, 2011 10:10:04 PM
I made this Buddha pendant as part of a swap. It was inspired by a Scrabble tile pendent my partner hand on her wist. The pendant has a little bit of dimension because the Buddha is actually a shrinky-dink that I decoupaged and glued to the wooden back.

I used Glossy Accents to make it shiny and I think it turned out OK, but I felt like maybe there is a trick to using it that I had not figured out yet . If anyone has any suggestions/advice I would love to hear them.
