271  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Journal for a month swap SEND OFFS ON Dec 11 on: November 03, 2010 08:58:48 PM
Is everyone hand writing their journals? I started my entries on the computer and plan to transfer them to the journal - just not sure if I want to print them and hide them in pockets or hidden pull-outs or to transfer them in writing on the pages. Maybe I will do a mixture of both. Kinda toying with the idea of a treasure hunt type journal. Making each day a fun and exciting read .... hopefully

i think a mixture of both sounds cool! i love the idea of pull out pockets etc Cheesy
i'm hand-writing mine from force of habit more than anything else, but also because i like writing by hand when i can.

my journal is coming along very well so far. i took a slightly unorthodox approach to the physical form of the journal, and i love the way it's turning out  Wink
it's constructed in such a way that means i have a set amount of space to write in every day, so i'm writing small and making the most of it!
my partner and i have decided that agreed to be open and candid, and i'm finding it really rewarding to be able to write about some of the big things in my life.

i designed this project myself, and i kind of love it. i'm so in love with woodland creatures, and i love samplers too, so it's a match made in heaven as far as i'm concerned Smiley

cross stitch ftw! Cheesy

(p.s. i blogged about it here: http://penelopewaits.com/penny/?p=150)

279  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Novembe 2010 Birthday Swap Lists - Open All Month! on: November 01, 2010 05:35:08 PM
hello lovelies! <3

my name is essie, and i'm from melbourne, australia.
i study psychology part time and i love learning about people and how they work (socially, emotionally and physiologically).
my style is vintage/woodland/cottage/floral/girly.
i love natural materials, earthy colours - dusty rose pink, sage green, earthy browns, creams, dark purples and blues.
i love animals, and i have three cats and a dog. if i could i'd have a pig, a goat, some chickens, and some rabbits too Smiley
i collect vintage teacups, and love all things tea-related.
i view my tumblr as a kind of 'lookbook' for my personal taste, and if you want to know what i like, that's a pretty good place to start. i also have a wist and a blog. they're all linked in my signature, so feel free to visit and look around!
motifs i love are: hearts, foxes, lace, deer, rabbits, cats, teacups & roses.

an amigurumi toy of something i love (teacup, fox, etc)
a garland/bunting (fabric, paper, croched)
an embroidery in a hoop
doilies (embroidered or croched)
a pencil/makeup case
a hand carved stamp
a fabric cuff (i have biggish wrists if you want me to provide a measurement please pm me Smiley )
a brooch or badge
a plushie animal
anything tea-related!
some potholders, an apron, or some other kitchen-related thing
***mega outlandish wish of craziness*** = a granny square blanket (made from non-synthetic yarn). i desperately want one of these but lack the skills to make one. i'd be happy to discuss a reciprocal lap-quilt for anyone willing to undertake this, and i'm sure we could arrange an extended send date for a project of this size.

anything related to embroidery or cross stitch
a simple sewing project

quilting fabric (i can never get enough fat eighths or fat quarters!)
cute sewing pins
embroidery floss or other embroidery supplies (nb i have almost the whole dmc range, but would love to receive floss that's hand-dyed, or unique to your area)
anything vintage (paper products, lace, fabric, buttons etc)

phew, that was fun!

this is the first time i have done a swap like this. i was wondering what i should be posting on this thread. is it just a "hello, i'm here" type thing (in which case, hi!), or should i be adding more info?
