1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Where in the World is Elisabeth Doherty? on: May 13, 2008 11:21:45 AM
I am sorry for my lack of response.  I have been dealing with several health problems for the last 6 months or so.  Things are just now beginning to sort out.  Not sure what my plans for the future are yet.
Thanks so much for your concern,

They are amazing.   Grin I have a crochet biz so I crochet about 8 hours a day. They haven't cured my problems, but they really help a lot.

6  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: knitty and crochetme rant! (you were warned . . .) on: September 14, 2005 09:41:49 PM
ya know i have to admit that when crochetme first came out I was really excited...but then I saw the patterns. I thought maybe they'd get better, but a year later and that hasn't proved to be the case.
No offense Croshay, but I'm a size 16 so I won't be wearing any of your patterns any time soon.
I guess it's a good thing that it's fairly easy to improvise in crochet since I have to write my own patterns >sigh<
7  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: flat hats? on: September 14, 2005 04:30:43 AM
basic beanie type hats basically are a tube with a flat top.  They get shaped when you wear them a bit.  Here's what you do to size them:
(your mom told you used use math  Wink)
1.measure around your head with a measuring tape for most adults this should be some where around 20 -23 inches
2. Divide that number by pi, 3.14
3. What you should have now is a number somewhere around 6 - 8.
4. Crochet a flat circle whose diameter (the measurement across all the way across the circle) is the number that you came up with in step 3. If you are use a really stretchy stitch you may want to make it a little smaller. Or if you just like a tight fitting hat.  This is the part where you can do some fiddling with the fit.
5. Once you are happy with the diameter crochet evenly, no increases or decrease, until you like how long your hat is.
Hope that helps
