101  Plarn flowerpots in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by pollyprissypants on: February 13, 2011 04:57:30 PM
So we just bought our first house, but the hubs says I can't till up the yard to put in a garden. I've decided to expand on my regular container garden, but don't really want to buy a bunch of pots. I used plarn and crocheted these bad boys up. Am going to make several more. The mess on my table was purposely left for size reference (har). I keep getting questions, so here's what I know: a. The dirt doesn't come out of the holes. The holes aren't that big. There are two ways to fix this- line them with newspaper, which decomposes over the course of the growing season, or keep the soil moist. b. Watering is not a problem, depending on the plant I sometimes have to water a tad more than usual. Just don't use extreme water pressure.
Anyhoo, I think they're neat and wanted to share!

Has anyone else used these before? I'm always open to comments and suggestions.

Omigosh! I got the CUTEST swap package from Damara this week! Check it out:

A SUPER CUTE wreath (I seriously love this thing):

The cutest Halloween bag ever:

An adorable scarf (that I've already worn, and my students LOVED!):

A wire/bead/cardstock tree (which I tried rotating FOUR TIMES with the Craftster photo editor, just FYI):

A headband that's perfect for next week:

Some handmade cards:

Three hair clips (and I think the super talented Damara made the middles from polymer clay!):

A tombstone:

And three super cute magnets!:

And on top of all that wonderful stuff, some candy! Thanks, Damara, it's the BEST PACKAGE EVER!

That threadcatcher is amazingly cute. It's very Mary Engelbreitish (which is fantastic, btw, I LOVE M.E.!).
Here's my 'for me' pics. 'Scuse my mess, please, we're moving and in the process of packing. Also, please 'scuse my shadow! The soap is mid-cure, so it sucks packing it up!
Here's my soap I made with the chai. I'll cut and wrap it once it's been cured. Yes, for moving purposes it's being stored in an H-E-B bag.

This is that weird goat milk soap I was talking about. Crossing my fingers it comes out okay... it already smells less caustic than it did.

And I also made a set of four dishcloths (a shower present, along with some soap. Not shower, like bath, but shower as in wedding. And I only clarified because of the gift contents).

Officially, I received from Tamalama. It's so cute! I'm in love with The Nightmare Before Christmas, so I got a super awesome Jack Skellington! Thanks, Tammy!

The other one is from squire_inaria and has been updated in my unofficial post!

And this is beautiful blue one features a tree with a little birdie:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE both shirts! Thanks, Sarah! They are super awesome times infinity!

I received THREE super awesome bookmarks this week! One's unofficial, and will be going on my unofficial post. The two official ones are here:

I received this one from nllchihuahua. I love Halloween (the holiday, not the movie!) so I got a really cute spooky bookmark! It's perfect for the season!

And I got this one from craftsunderground! I had a quote from Willy Wonka on my questionnaire, so she went with chocolate! This is made from mini Mr. Goodbar and Hershey bar wrappers, gum wrapper chain style!

They are both awesome! Thanks, guys!

Aaaaaand, this'll be my unofficial entry.
Here's the one I received from PureOath (again, go go gadget The Phantom Tollbooth):

It's adorable! Thanks, PureOath!

Here's the one I received from HippieKender..... I love Halloween, so I got an awesomely colorful, seasonally appropriate bookmark!

Thanks, HK!

This one's from Cassiecate57. I LOVE THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS.

It says, "My, what a brilliant nose you have!"
Thanks, Cassie! It's too cute!

This is from squire_inaria. It's on Halloween cardboard. The front view has Jack Skellington pondering on his hill, and the back has my fave quote from Willy Wonka, "We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams."

Thanks, squire_inaria! It's so cute and I can't wait to use it!

ACK! I received the kewlest Edward Scissorhands from habitat_lady today!

She drew it herself! I. HEART. EDWARD. SCISSORHANDS. For reals, yo. Thanks, habitat_lady! I adore it!

And this little cutie I received from Tero. It's got a owl! My husband remarked about how appropriate that was for me. Thanks, Tero! I love it!

I love what everyone's done! I've done three Inga bags so far... I've got the squares to make another two, but they are all random colors while I stash bust, so I think they'd look weird together. Will keep trucking through the stash.
