1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Computer/Paper/Duct Tape Hair Bows on: October 04, 2011 03:36:38 PM
I thought I posted this yesterday but never saw it show up. I guess I've been gone too long. But I'm baaaack! Anyone miss me?

Remember my computer earrings?
Well, my pretty little granddaughter is now 2 1/2 years old and never goes out without a hair bow.
So I decided to try my hand at making computer hair bows.....

They are printed on photo paper and then covered with clear duct tape and backed with colored duct tape so they are pretty durable if treated with care (no running around in the rain!)

So what do you think? Cool or stupid?

4  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 30 ENTRIES / We all know Craftsters run with scissors..... (new pictures page 4) on: September 04, 2008 08:28:16 PM
But sadly, there are some that are still "scaredy cats" and are afraid to run with scissors because they are afraid of being hurt. So this is a scissors cozy for all those "scaredy cat" Craftsters who have never experienced the true joy of running with scissors!

Crafted with felt which has been lined with duct tape to make it sturdier to serve and protect. Bling added because kitschy is always cool. All made with things I had on hand because thrifty is also a Craftster motto! Shaped like a black cat because black cats are the traditional "scaredy cats" and because there is not much in the world cozier than a cat!! Chain added so it can be safely worn around the neck while running Smiley

The irony is hopefully obvious. The uselessness is that I have always run with scissors (without a cozy) and have the scars and the results to prove it!!!

Thanks for looking.  By the way, he has no name.... Any suggestions?
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Privacy Please!!! on: August 24, 2008 06:12:05 PM
This is not the prettiest thing I've ever made - but it has been a total carpet saver!!
My daughter is going to college and also working on and off. She got a doxie to keep her company but couldn't take him out whenever he needed to go so she decided to puppy pad train him. He wound up coming to live with us and he did use the puppy pads - but he would also go behind my husband's chair and behind my bed and under the bed and under the table beside the couch....
It finally dawned on me that he picked these places because they were private.
So, I made him his own privacy area. I took leftover floor tiles and taped them together with matching brown duct tape and put it up in an out of the way corner of the living room. And he loves it!
I'm not saying he doesn't mess up once in awhile still but it's very seldom. And the older he gets the better he is doing. We are also training him to go outside and maybe some day I can do away with this - but in the meantime - it has been a blessing!
Hope the idea helps someone else!
6  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / Craftster Spellcheck Fun! on: July 21, 2008 08:05:40 AM
Inspired by this....
I love Craftsters!!  I still giggle every time Craftster's spell check tells me that Craftster isn't a real word, and did I perhaps mean gravesides.

and then noticing what suggestions it made for my Craftster nickname...

I thought it would be fun to see what kind of cool, silly or stupid suggestions the spellchecker comes up with for our screen names.
I'll go first....  kaleesi - jailers
Lothruin - tag you're it! (p.s. I just did a sneak spellcheck of your name and it comes up with some COOL ones Wink)

8  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Serious Dog Sleeping Problem - Solved!!! on: June 05, 2008 01:34:53 PM
We have a serious problem with our dogs wanting to sleep in the bed with us. Locking them out doesn't work because Hunter won't stop scratching till we give up and let him in just to keep the door from being demolished. I have bought several dog beds and put them on the floor in our bedroom but they don't like it because they can't be near us. Okay - I admit, I have totally spoiled them! But when they are in the bed with us they hog the whole bed! Why do dogs have to sleep sideways anyway? My hubby was not happy!

Anyway.... I had a shining light bulb moment and I took our old hope chest which was in really sad condition and pushed it up against the end of our bed.

I took off the torn vinyl and covered it with a really soft blanket and filled it with soft stuffing

And now they can be close to us but not in the bed with us.

And it worked!! Well, for Hunter anyway... Duke loves it too but still winds up burrowing under the covers and sleeping in the crook of our legs... Oh well, one out of two ain't bad Wink Especially since Hunter is the biggest bed hog and without him it feels like our bed is twice as big!

And here is a picture of the boys showing their approval of their new bed.

I know it's not really great - but we sleep much better at night now Smiley
Thanks for looking!
9  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Three little bears on: May 31, 2008 01:29:24 PM

The editor said she wanted to do that in the fall magazine as a feature article......
