21  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Decked Out for Deathly Hallows Part II GALLERY! on: July 12, 2011 01:46:16 PM
I've received from billiemarie, but, due to moving, my camera, camera cord, and laptop are all in a box... somewhere. Cry and, due to an unfortunate accident during moving (I dropped my very heavy bed on my big toe- and broke my toe Cry where's Madam Pomfrey when you need her?) I'm not very mobile right now either.
(I'm being sneaky-sneaky and getting on Craftster at work. shame on me. Roll Eyes)
I just wanted to say, though, that I LOVE everything she sent!
she made the most delicious cookies for me (now nearly half gone... so much for the diet I'm on! I just can't stop eating them!)
and she made a pair of wrist warmers that came straight off my wist! I love the knit lacy bit at the wrists- my favorite! and it's in my house colors!
and a pygmy puff, which has been absconded by my 9 week old kitten (who is just barely bigger than the Pygmy puff! it's stashed away somewhere, and will be rescued as soon as I see it again.
and she made me this most awesome robe/jacket-with the deathly hallows symbol on the front! I have been wearing it at work and it's so warm! I'll be taking it to the movie on Friday!

I just hope she likes her package as much as I LOVE mine!

Thank you so much billiemarie!

could you pretty please post pictures? I'm still frantically looking for my camera and cord and laptop... we just got internet up at home yesterday, so I'm excited!
Thank you! Grin Grin
22  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Harry Potter Recipes Collection on: July 11, 2011 01:36:04 PM
the pop rocks are made of sugar, and CO2, and when the humidity hits the pop rocks (or, if you're lucky and don't live in a very humid state, the Caro Syrup) it kind of "melts" the sugar, and when you mush and mash and squeeze it all together, it makes a slightly solid candy ball. (show of hands, who here used to take a stick of gum and mash it up into a ball before sticking in your mouth as a kid? anyone? anyone? Bueler?)
I wish I had taken pictures when I did my practice run (as I still can't find my camera or camera cord after the move), so that I could show you guys. I'll try to get pics ASAP, so that it makes a little more sense. it's super easy!
if you have any other questions, I'm here to help you! (sometimes I don't make sense when I try to explain how I did something... Cheesy)

Fizzing Whizbees
(by schultebunny)
Pop Rocks (any flavor)
similar-colored sanding sugar
Caro Syrup (the clear kind) **optional**

empty the pop rocks into a bowl and let sit for several minutes (this works best in humid environments, like Texas or Louisiana. if there's little humidity, use a drop of so of the Caro syrup.)
in a separate bowl, pour some similar-colored sanding sugar in the bottom.
i.e.: if you're using strawberry pop rocks, use red sanding sugar. for the bubblegum pop rocks, use pink. blue for blue raspberry, etc.
using gloves (the pop rocks will stick to your fingers, and lose their "fizziness"), scoop about 1/2 teaspoon of pop rock and squish and mash and roll the pop rocks into a tight ball. here in Texas, I found that the more I handled the pop rocks, the stickier they got, which I wanted.
drop the pop-rock-balls into the bowl with the sanding sugar and coat thoroughly.
package in little treat bags with a little extra sanding sugar.

to eat:
place one or several fizzing whizbees in your mouth and enjoy the fizziness! (works best when you suck on them-not bite them.) Grin
24  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / New Home+Crafty Person=awesome on: June 29, 2011 01:58:22 PM
*NOTE: pictures to come in the next day or two, when I finally get the keys. Cheesy*
I am moving into a new home (well, it's an older home, but it's new to me!)
and, for the first time, I'm able to paint the walls any color I want!
the problem is, I'm out of ideas (I'm worrying about my college class that's starting in August, and all crafty ideas have disappeared Cry)
I have, so far, decided on doing the outside-but-still-inside laundry room in bright yellow with bright white trim (it was a porch, that was closed in and made into a laundry room) and it has 3 windows and a screen door in the little 8'x8' area. (it's a bright room to begin with, what with all that natural sunlight)
the front bedroom is currently a VERY dark greenish-blackish color, and it's incredibly depressing to be in the room (can you believe that it used to be a little girl's room?  Shocked) I know I want to re-paint it a blue-ish color, but a very bright, light blue color, with bright white trim. this is going to end up as the "big-kid's play room"- where both my darling SO and I will spend most of our time; him playing video games on one side of the room, and me crafting on the other side of the room. it's going to have a largish desk for his computer, a tv & tv stand in a corner, a couch somewhere in there, and my craft desk/table when I get one (yay! I get to UPGRADE from the kitchen table!!!), and I will most likely be nearest the closet (pictures to come, when I can get over there to get started changing everything!) so that I can store all my crafty stuff in it, and hide it away (it's a walk-in closet, so I'm excited!)
the bathroom needs to be re-done, for sure, as there is a wooden window sill in the shower Shocked I'm actually going to have a professional do that bit, because it's an older home, and I don't want to mess something up. I want to repaint the wall (what isn't tile-but I'm thinking that I want to tear the tile off and just have a regular wall- but that will have to wait for next year, or whenever I can have the money to spend again. Cheesy
the back bedroom is currently a plain tan/neutral color, which is boring, and I want to repaint it too, but I don't know what color. I like the brighter/lighter colors, and I like the color pink, and my SO likes the color dark blue. but I'm clueless at this point.
the kitchen is pretty big, and eventually I want to put an island in the middle-but again- that's later. I want to paint the walls a bright, light green (think pastel neon green), but I have no clue what to do with the cabinets, which are the same ugly color as the front bedroom. I'm out of ideas for the cabinets. Sad
and of course, the living room. I want it to stay neutral, but I think I'm going to re-do the paint on the walls, or maybe make it a little bit brighter, and of course, re-paint the trim with bright white. I'm wanting to take this idea --> https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=358033.0 and put one behind the couch in the living room (rather, where the couch will be once we are settled) and change it with the seasons-I love that idea!
*whew* I have a lot of work ahead of me, but I'm glad it's a pretty small house (perfect for just me and my SO).
anyway, I need help/advice/ideas, anything! I badly want to do something-I've only ever lived in apartments, so this is a HUGE deal to me-I can make it my own!
please (and thank you!) to a great crafty community!  Grin Grin Grin

my patronus would probably be a horse- to them, everything is game, you just have to know how to play.
they are extremely loyal (sorry, I'm showing my back-woods red-neck-ness country girl side) to their friends (their "herd"), the females are the alpha "in charge", fiercely protective of ALL the young-not just their own- and, they run away from stress and fights and danger (crap, not that, as a volunteer firefighter, I run towards danger Grin), and if you made them mad, they kick you. (I'm extremely proud of my leg strength. ridiculously so.)

plus, if you get to ride a huge horse, they make your butt look smaller. Grin Grin

does this poster make anyone else want to cry?
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2

Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry

no, not really, unless you're referring to the "IT ALL ENDS 7-15" bit. that does make me sad.  Cry
but it sure makes me want to buy every single poster and print all the pictures! Smiley
29  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Embroidery Hoopla Rnd 5 - Color Spectrum Gallery!! (Send 6/6/11) on: June 24, 2011 06:46:54 AM
yay! so I received yesterday, but my camera was on strike yesterday (due to the fact that I dropped it on a bit of burning ground while taking pictures of the Dyer Mill Fire here in Grimes county... oops!)
so anyway, here is my awesome hoop!
first, after looking at my wist, she saw that I love anatomical hearts (my chosen career is in the Medical Field, and the heart is an amazing muscle!)

look at those tiny little stitches!
and, after taking another look at my wist, she saw that I'm a fan of a certain Doctor!

such perfectly even stitches! I could never do this...
so here's the whole hoop!

thank you Staar84, I love my hoop! it's so perfect! Smiley
30  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Hoopla Round 6 Ideas! on: June 23, 2011 07:00:35 AM
The mix and match idea sounds cute. I wont be joining this time, I was flaked on the last 2 hoopla swaps so I wont be doing anymore but I'll definatly stalk the gallery.

I promise to be an awesome partner! I won't flake on you (because that's just rude!) and I'll send something I know you'll like! I promise! Grin
come on, join this round, and you and I can be partners, and no flakers. Wink
