1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Quilt As You Go Rainbow Mug Rug on: May 31, 2017 11:30:01 PM
Love the mug rug (never heard of them before this post, but that's an adorable name!) and am super excited to try out the quilt as you go tutorial you linked. I think I might, just maybe, have a shot at making that one work!!! My last attempt at quilting was less than stellar, sadly, and it's been several years since I tried. Satin blanket binding... ugh.

Oh, and I'm bookmarking this to show to my boyfriend's mom, who is a much more accomplished quilter than I am. She makes square coasters (like this, but with regular batting instead of fusible webbing: http://freequiltpatterns.blogspot.com/2013/04/easy-folded-coasters.html) and I'm pretty sure she's going to love this idea!

Update: it was amazingly warm while camping! So, a successful blanket indeed, haha! Smiley

My monster of a granny stripe afghan! Used 3 strands of "I Love This Yarn" all the way through. It's big enough to cover a king sized bed, weighs approximately 15 pounds, and used a total of 28 full skeins and 9 partial skeins. Started around February 10th or so, finished April 14th. Pattern is based on Attic24's granny stripe, but color inspiration came from the graduated granny pattern by PSICrochet. Hope you all enjoy! I'm quite pleased with it, looking forward to using it when I go camping next week, and I'm actually considering a version with white instead of black for the base color. Smiley

While I'm waiting for Hobby Lobby to get more yellow I Love This Yarn in stock (two months and counting...), I decided to start on a baby version of this. It's alternating rows of scrap yarn in assorted pastel colors with rows of white, and it'll have a white border. If I have enough of my scraps to do it, I'm thinking two rows of color, two rows of white. Planning to start it this afternoon, and donate it to our local NICU when I finish it. Smiley

Finished the body of the blanket! Waiting until Monday to put on the border, because I'm a moron and left the black yarn for the border sitting at the office... but I should have it finished by Tuesday, making it six weeks from start to finish. Nowhere near as impressive as eight days, but mine wound up being king-sized, so I'm happy with it. Smiley Thanks again for the pattern, it's gorgeous!

Unfortunately, work has gotten in the way of this. I also had to frog a solid NINE ROWS and redo them, because I took it to the movies and skipped a stitch way the heck back there... Plus I made it wider, because I like ginormous blankets that I can bundle up in with room to spare... So it's taking a LOT longer than your eight days, LOL!

BUT!!! I am pleased to report that I've passed the halfway point! As I type this I'm five rows from completing my fourth pattern repeat, which will be 2/3 of the blanket done. When finished, it should be close to 6 feet square. Smiley

My work laptop is ancient and doesn't like my phone, so I can't post a pic right now, but I will as soon as it's finished! Thanks again!

Bought the pattern this weekend, started it this afternoon at work, and I'm currently about halfway through the first pattern repeat. I've just got to say, you did an AWESOME job writing up a clear, easy to follow, super fast pattern! I can't wait to see how mine turns out. Thank you!
8  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Yarn Bombing Los Angeles- Covering the Craft and Folk Art Museum in Grannies! on: January 20, 2013 09:17:03 AM
Just got my confirmation email. My 92 squares were received yesterday. Now to finish a couple of other projects, so I can buy more yarn for this without feeling guilty!

Up to 70 finished squares. 15 bright orange, 10 yellow, 14 white, 21 purple, and 10 lime green. I've got half a skein of the lime green left, plus a full skein of bright blue, and I just found two more skeins of white that may go toward this, or may go toward a Stormtrooper blanket later this year. We'll see! I'm going to finish the green and blue, then stuff all of the squares into a box and see how much room I have left before I decide where the white is going. Smiley

That is awesome. Definitely making this for Christmas next year!
