3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / New to sewing on: January 09, 2011 09:03:24 AM
So my mums just given me her sewing machine, yey! She taught me to crochet when i was small but never sewing. I'm determined to learn. I have totally fallen in love with poppets and and going to make one however:

1. Im in England - in the north - I cannot find any of this doe fabric - what can i substitue - flannel??
2. I have found the awesome pattern - but it looks small - do i print out on A4 - does it need englarging - everyone's georgous poppets look really big...?
3. For the hair do i make a crocheted wig..?

Is it too ambitious for a novice??

Any help would be much appreciated

many thanks
xx

7  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / I made a Gizmo on: October 03, 2010 03:25:54 PM
Anyone like Gremlins?? I saw a Gizmo in sewing and toys section and thought - oh my god I want one. So I gave it a go and this is what came out. After posting on Facebook - I have been told its head needs to be bigger so I'm working on Gizmo 2 with lots of improvements but I still think he is cute.

Any suggestions to make him better??

Thanks for looking
8  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Lil' crochet baby monkey on: October 03, 2010 03:07:51 PM
Here is my first monkey I have ever made from Ana Paula's great book, the pics really do not do here justice. I have made lots of Ami's but she is one of my favourites!

She is made from grren and brown priceless wool which is very reasonable as the name suggests but also is super soft. She is also wearing a tiny flowever which I got from the craft store - its meant to be for making wedding accessories I think but it i thought it made a lovely addition to her dress.

Hope you like my little sweet pea
