1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: Baby Shoes on: February 08, 2012 11:22:18 PM
Hahahaha.. I love it! Before my son was born (the day after Thanksgiving!) I made way too many bibs.. Now that he's here.. my obsession is booties. How can we help it? Tiny shoes are awesome!
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Who likes fancy lunches? I like fancy lunches! on: November 15, 2011 06:00:56 PM
I volunteered to participate in the 'Giving Tree' program at my mother's church. I was given the task of gifting to an 'Adult Woman'. Hmmm.. now what sort of gift do you give someone when those are the only details you know?? Well.. after Googling 'gift tutorials' for ideas for the first week of my Maternity Leave I finally came up with what I thought was a 'Grand Idea'.

I had this great two sided, Asian print fabric in my stash that was sturdy enough to make a bag.. So I made a bag, lined it with the opposite side out, made a placemat (2 layered like the bag) and then spent a whole hour putting tiny 1/4" twill tape around a 'napkin'. I added chop stix and a couple containers and Voila! A handy lunch kit.

Even Dad thought it was amazing so I guess it passes the gift test!

3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Re: Boppies and Snugglers Oh My! on: November 11, 2011 03:52:11 PM
Not at all.. I found it very easy and whipped it out pretty quickly.
A less experienced sewer might take a couple hours from cut to complete.

Cute, cute, cute! I had seen the download for the snuggler before. Was it difficult?

That fabric is gorgeous! I think my son needs some sleep sacs too.
5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Action pic! Matchy Daddy/Son Birthday in Space outfits. on: October 20, 2011 10:20:37 AM
*** Our son was born November 25th!***
Because my husband and I are uber dorks.. I like sewing and he likes wearing matchy outfits for 'special occasions'. Now that we have a Son on the way it gives me tons of reasons to make matchy outfits.

Daddy wanted to have matchy outfits for Going Home From the Hospital Day (which is not coming soon enough I tell ya!). So using some fabric he had already picked out for a shirt for himself, I whipped up the following ensembles.

Using this Tute and pattern found at Sew Mama Sew http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/2010/10/october-20-baby-kimono-wrap-tutorial-london-mummy-giveaway-2/  I made the baby a kimono style top (button closures vs. ties) and used a pair of his existing pants to make a pattern for the elastic waist bottoms. They are sized at 6 mo (yes I know he is going to swim in them.. it's mostly for the photo ops!) so he can wear them for a while.

I used the trusty Kwik Sew pattern I've been using to make shirts all Summer for Hubby.

***We now have an action shot!***

6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Re: First Baby Blanket and Tummy Time Pillow!!! on: October 12, 2011 01:52:05 PM
Love!!! and Super Love!! Flannel is my fave baby fabric these days. Now if I was 8 days overdue and NOT still an uncomfortable month away from my due date.. I would hope these were for me! My Baby Boy theme is Sea Turtles.
7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Boppies and Snugglers Oh My! on: October 11, 2011 03:07:25 PM
I found a nice fat piece of this super soft tiger flannel at my fave thrift joint. Originally it was to be the back to a baby quilt for my soon-to-be-born-son. Instead it became a Boppy cover and a Snuggler. I credit these two tutes for my sewing genius.. http://blog.craftzine.com/archive/2009/05/craft_pattern_podcast_snuggler.html?CMP=OTC-5JF307375954 and http://www.amberdusick.com/woodmouse_loves_crafts/2010/11/my-boppy-tutorial-slipcover-aka-nursingyear-3.html

Naked Boppy.. and then with cover.
