51  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / DVDs... What DVDs? on: January 14, 2006 10:42:57 PM
So I bought this cute piece of furniture to house our growing DVD collection.  It has clear glass doors on it.  I love the piece, but I HATE looking at the DVDs.

I wanted to frost the glass, using Armor Etch, but the glass is attached to the wood frame, and I was afraid of destroying the wood.

I decided to add some funky fabric I had left over from a different project.  I just scotch taped it to the inside of the door.

52  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Outdoor Peanuts Christmas Display on: December 20, 2005 11:25:43 PM
My husband and I decided to make a Peanuts Christmas display.  It took a long time to create.  First I drew  the characters on plywood.  Then I painted them.  My husband cut them out with the jigsaw.  We sanded the edges, touched up the paint, and gave them a coat of polyurethane.  Sorry about the glare on some of the pictures.  We are so proud of our Peanuts gang. Enjoy!

53  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / artist collage on: November 18, 2005 09:06:01 PM
I made a collage today.  It is an example for my 4th grade students.  I want them to create a collage that shows what they want to be when they grow up. I'm so proud of my collage. Smiley

54  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Simon's NY Yankee Costume on: October 23, 2005 09:33:19 PM
My Maltese Simon loves to get dressed up.  This year for Halloween, he decided to be Bernie Williams from the NY Yankees....even though they did not make it to the World Series this year.   Cry

Simon loves to catch, so I nicknamed him Bernie Williams.    I stenciled it onto a Onesie.  Onesies fit him very well.  I just had to trim the snappy part so he can pee.  I made the hat with the scraps.

55  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 6 ENTRIES / *** TORI AMOS - NAIL POLISH - HAT BOX *** on: October 10, 2005 03:34:40 PM
I had an old hat box that I  did not use.

I covered it with brown paper bags and lots of pictures of Tori Amos.
I glued and sealed it with Mod Podge.

Now I have a place to store my many bottles of nail polish.

56  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / CIRCLES and SQUIGGLES Messenger Bag...I'm So Proud! on: August 29, 2005 05:14:04 PM
I went to Rag Shop to buy some thread, and I spotted this fabric.  I knew it was destined to be my new bag.  I was even happier to find out that it was on sale for only $3.99 a yard.

I lost a night of sleep, but it was so worth it.

FRONT with a vintage button from Grandma's stash

with a big velcro pouch

OPEN FLAP with a big pouch

INSIDE with a few patchwork pouches for the cell phone, lipstick, mirror, and a pen

INSIDE with another patchwork pouch and a zipped pouch

CLOSE UP of Granny buckle

CLOSE UP of fabric and a metal circle I stole from another purse

I used a combination of Craftster Tutorials and a few tricks of my own.

I LOVE CRAFTSTER!!! Without you guys, I'd be so lost.
57  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / My Cool Apartment! PIC HEAVY on: August 21, 2005 11:11:25 PM
My husband and I moved into our apartment over 2 years ago.  As soon as we moved in, we started decorating.  We completely revamped everything.  We were on a tight budget, but that didn't really bother me.  I'm an avid do-it-yourselfer anyway!

We went with a frog theme.
I made huge stamps for the frogs and lilypads.  I got the idea from a TV show.

I designed butterflies and flowers.  I printed them on the computer and used wall paper paste to slap them on the walls.  I handpainted the green vine.

Too cheap to buy new hardware, I used polymer clay to cover all of the existing knobs and door pulls.

COMPUTER ROOM  *UPDATE* https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=150378.msg1490251;topicseen#msg1490251 I begged my husband to let me buy an ugly 1970's brown shag rug covered curved chair for $5 at a garage sale.
Then I ripped it apart and reupholstered it with a pale green blanket.
I even made my own buttons.   Smiley

We went with an Asian theme.
We have a cool stained glass window and fabulous wood work.
We bought some inexpensive furniture from a catalog.
My husband and I sketched and painted 4 huge Chinese characters.  The three pictured say "Wife" "Husband" & "Dog".  The other one says "Pork Fried Rice" Tongue
I found 6 chairs at a garage sale for $30.  I reupholstered them with black dragonfly fabric.

This is the funkiest room in the apartment.  I especially love the wood arch between the Living Room and Dining room.
We bought dark red couches, a funky colorful rug, and a TV cabinet.  Everything else came from garage sales.
We made the huge red starburst with some scrap wood and a paisley blanket.
I made the topiary from a fake Christmas tree.
My favorite thing in this room is the "Christmas Story" inspired LEG LAMP.  I found the leg in my mother's basement and I knew what had to be done.  I still have not found the perfect shoe, but I like it just the way it is.  We even put it in the window at Christmas time.

I hope you enjoyed the tour of my home.  TIKI PORCH pictures coming soon!

58  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / 3 painted onesies for a POT HEAD! on: August 09, 2005 10:08:37 PM
Here are 3 onsies that I made for my cousin's baby-to-be.  I drew and cut stencils out of contact paper, stuck it on the onesie, and painted with acrylic paint.  I stole the POTTY HEAD idea from a website.  My cousin loves frogs.  And her husband loves the Yankees.  Enjoy!

59  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / My First Quilt. Froggy style! on: June 19, 2005 03:59:30 PM
I made my first quilt in about 10 hours.  Most of that time was spent thinking...pulling out my hair .. and second guessing myself.  But I am very happy with the result.  I made it for my cousin's baby-to-be.  My cousin and her husband love exotic frogs and I'm sure their baby will too.  The pictures do not show the colors properly ,but you  get the idea.
