Here are some pixel paintings I did recently! All done with acrylic paint. Most of them are done on canvas, but a couple are on canvas panel (but I prefer canvas by far!)

Some 12x16 inches:

Link from A Link to the Past on the Super Nintendo

Mario with a Mario Bros 3 background

Megaman from Megaman 2 on the NES

Raccoon Mario flying to the sky

I also made some 8x10 inches:

Zelda from A Link to the Past:

Terra from Final Fantasy 6:

Wow, that is an amazing amount of work!  It looks great, I don't know how you had the patience, or kept the rows/columns so perfectly straight!

It's all in the prep Smiley I draw squares on the canvas before starting, so that's how it stays straight Smiley

Thanks everyone! Yes, my husband was very happy! He knew I was working on it, but he thought I was doing a project with 1/2 inch pixels instead of 1/4 inch (4 times more pixels). He was very impressed by the result! The good thing about this type of pixel painting is that you don't see small mistakes Tongue

I love to do pixel painting. I normally just do small paintings, but for my husband's last birthday, I wanted to do something epic. I had a 36x48 inches canvas that I was keeping for something special, so I decided to do a painting with a lot of pixels to go in our staircase.

I thought about the Castlevania game series cause my husband loves these games and the color scheme fits our wall. I searched for something big but without too many different colors and I found a pixel art made by Puzza on PixelJoint (http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/33021.htm). Perfect!

It's 144 by 192 pixels (each pixel is 1\4 inch). It took me a lot of afternoons of secret work, while my husband was at work. Fortunately I was on maternity leave, waiting for baby to get here Smiley

Here is one with my dog for scale. It's a big dog Tongue

I used my "messy pixels" technique, which means that I don't try to do perfectly square pixels, but I use the unevenness to make the image look more stylish.

Here is some close-ups.

6  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Re: Penguin Costume ... a little late for Halloween :) on: May 18, 2014 10:50:36 AM
I will, it's the point, isn't it? Wink

Next Halloween, it's gonna be way easier, since I'll have her to measure and try the costume instead of having to guess by looking at my belly Tongue !

It's been sooooo long since I've posted anything on this site, at least since I've had my baby and she's 7 months old!

My baby's due date was Oct 3rd (she was born Oct 15th), so I wanted to sew her a cute little Halloween costume. My husband proposed to make a blue penguin costume, which is a character from a video game (called a Prinny).

I bought a pattern for animal costumes and the smallest size was 7-13 lbs. Good for a newborn, no? Well, not really. When I made the costume, the only part that was newborn size was the sleeve length. So I had a costume that was wayyy too big with short sleeves.

What to do? Well, since it wouldn't fit at Halloween, I kept it. When she was about 3 months old, she was the right size for the main costume. I removed the elastics in the short sleeves and added some flippers/wings to lengthen the sleeves. Then I put the costume on her even if it was January  Tongue

Here it is:

The character on which the costume is based has peg-legs so that's why the legs are brown  Smiley

9  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Pop Tart! Lots of pictures! on: November 09, 2012 06:33:14 PM
Thanks! Sadly, a lot of people at the party hadn't seen the Professional, so they didn't recognise my boyfriend's costume... But everybody recognised the Pop-Tart!  Cheesy
10  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Pop Tart! Lots of pictures! on: November 06, 2012 03:48:40 PM
I was invited to a Halloween party with a theme: the letter P! I wanted to find a costume that had 3 characteristics: 1) Not expensive, 2) Not slutty, 3) Not long to craft. After a lot of thinking, I had the best idea (in my mind Tongue)... a Pop Tart!  Grin

I took a pillowcase for the Pop Tart itself, some white fleece for the icing and stitching floss for the sprinkles. In the end, the sprinkles took a long time because I wanted to have knots to look like round sprinkles, but it was worth it! At the last minute, I also made a little felt Pop Tart that I put on a headband.

Here is the costume!  Smiley

With my boyfriend, he was disguised as The Professional (with Jean Reno and Nathalie Portman, good old movie!)

Here is the back, my pillowcase was so tight, it really looked like a dress!

And a close up of the felt PopTart headband!

I'm really proud of my costume: simple and original, yay!  Cheesy
