1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Advice on fabric choice... PLEASE!! on: June 20, 2011 06:32:45 PM
Ok, so i got a new burda pattern, which looks nice in the picture, but i wanted to tweak it here and there.
here's a list of my 'tweaks'.
I'm gonna make it in wool, not it velvet like the pattern suggests. brown suiting fabric that's a bit heavy, but not very.
I'm gonna make it floor length and I'll add a pink belt with a bow at the back of the dress.
I'm gonna add pink organza/tulle ruffles to the lining which will be slightly visible under the dress.

and I wanna make a jacket that goes with it. a cropped jacket/spencer style.
with these sleeves

and here lies the problem!
I dont know what fabric to use or what colour.

here are the options I came up with so far.
1/ pink merino wool jacket, same colour as the belt, with the belt peeking from under it.
2/brown velvet jacket that covers the belt
3/ brown heavy cotton with pink lace trim and {maybe} hood (covers the belt)
4/just lace, pink.

I could also cover the top part of the dress in pink lace, but I dont know if i should.
it would look nice, but it would look nice without it too.

any advice would be very much appreciated
as i really want this to turn out good.
