Anyone else reminded of david the gnome? Or some movie I think, with puppets, that had a similar thing. I'm thinking maybe the neverending story?

Anyways, LOVE it. Cheesy
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Peacock earring holder on: October 11, 2008 07:03:41 PM
That's cute! what did you use to make it? I was thinking you could use a business card holder that looks like a miniature plate stand. It'd look like peacock legs. You'd probably have to put the danglies in higher though.

Just cardboard (from a package I got that has just been sitting around waiting for me to throw it away, haha!) and acrylic paint. I printed out a picture of a peacock and used it for reference and stenciling.

And I may use that business card idea.. I was trying to think of alternatives to hanging it, too Smiley

After being inspired by a cute metal peacock jewelry stand at Urban Outfitters, I decided I could make my own Smiley

Sorry I'm just kinda holding it.. I intend to add ribbon or some sort of hanger thing (ideas?). I think I could use it for necklaces, too. Even if I don't end up using it for earrings, I like how it came out, period.

Painted on cardboard with acrylic paints.

I love the peace signs! They're awesome.

Did it hurt getting your ears pierced? I'm pretty good at managing pain.. but I'm still afraid to. I had my ears pierced the first time when I was only a few months old. Luckily, they never closed up on me, even after going years without wearing any earrings. I want to get them pierced up higher but I'm still scared to  Tongue

It hurt more than people told me it would (everyone said it hurt less than a shot... they lied), but I'm such a wimp and also needles are my fear. It wasn't bad, since it was quick, though. I feel more apt to pierce something else since I got these done. I have heard that piercing anywhere else hurts worse, if you're meaning to do your cartilage.

I have FINALLY bought earring materials and started creating my own earrings!

I just got my ears pierced (also finally... I'm 19..) a week ago and cannot wait til I can start wearing cute earrings! I don't know how I made it this long without earrings when there are so many cute things I can hang from my ears!

I still can't change my earrings for 3 more weeks, when that time comes, I won't even know what I'll put in first!

Most of them are just beads and wire, the peace signs are hemp cord covered with elmer's glue to keep their shape. I was so proud of myself for coming up with that!

Now off to save up my money to buy more beads and trinkets!

Alright.. I am in need of guidance.

My boyfriend has dreadlocks, has had them now for just over 2 months.  They're coming along quite well, i think, but the problem is that in the back/on the bottom, the roots are kind of... conjoined. I was the one who gave him dreads, and I was kind of really in charge of them, except I went to college, and I only see him on the weekends, and we usually don't feel like sitting down for a really long time and having me pull his hair for a few hours.

So I realize that I should have been more vigilant, but what can i do now to kind of section off the dreads again? The only thing I can think of is to kind of cut them and maybe tie threads around the bases until it gets all knotty and the dreads are separate again.

I'm just freaking out that i did them all wrong in the first place and that he will have to wash them out...

i think if i do not make this hat, my boyfriend will never love me. Shocked wish i had found it sooner, it would have been an incredible one-year anniversary gift!!
