51  Re: Crafty Onesie/Lap Tee Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by RougeRaven on: October 06, 2007 10:42:03 PM
Yay! My lovely swap angel sent the cutest package! (I don't know her user name so I can't give her credit  Angry maybe our organizer could help me out?)

I recieved two [glow=blue]adorable[/glow] onesies and a little monkey magnet. My fiance is terrified of monkeys so this little guy is staying here at my parent's house while I am at college.

Of the two onesies, one has a sweet owl face, and the other a kick ass Day of the Dead skull! I am unable to take action shots because I'm seperated from my little buggers for now. During the fall and spring semesters, I live in Maryland with my parents to attend college. During the winter, spring and summer breaks, I live in my home with my fiance and my two children. Dave will be flying up (sadly, without the kids) in 3 weeks for my birthday, but I'll be sending things for the kids with him. Hopefully we'll have some decent photos by the end of the month.

Enough rambling, onto the photos!

I know this isn't part of this month's theme, (but I have been wanting to start a heavy wall hanging for our bedroom wall- which has a hole in it).

But I found a huge ziplock bag of old keys, so I just had to make something so...

I made myself an all recycled wind chime that sounds uber pretty. The base is made out of an old plastic ruler, various keys and old bobbins for the noise makers, and tied with left over ribbon from gift wrapping.

53  My boyfriend kicks ass in Needlework: Completed Projects by RougeRaven on: June 23, 2007 09:32:03 AM
This is my boyfriend's first embroidery piece, I am so proud of him. Outlined in a backstitch for the black portion, he later moved onto using a satin stitch.

Boyfriend's perspective: "I don't know what she's talking about with the stitch thing. I just poked holes in it and makeded the string go through in pretty lines."

55  Vintage/Antique Sewing Machine Help? in Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions by RougeRaven on: April 03, 2007 08:03:45 PM
Let it be known my boyfriend is the best man ever.

The boyfriend took his only day off for the week to go thrifting, and ended up buying me a freakin' gorgeous Jones sewing machine. She's vintage if not an antique.

It's a fold away, and it's a manual (I guess you'd call it that... rather than electric) It's got the whole peddle thing going on. I've tried googling the brand and stuff, but I can't figure out what model it is.

So yeah, it's really pretty but I have absolutely no idea how to use one of these things. I have a Janome 4618 LE and I love it. (This little pretty is meant to stay at his place in Tennessee- I live in Maryland.) So I was wondering if anyone had any kind of advice or information on how they work (like if there are different feet for it, how to back stitch, etc. anything at all really) or even where I could find parts or something. I'll take whatever I can get lol I'm moving in with him for the summer and won't be bringing my Janome with me since I'm taking the train down.

The photos I took of the things I sent Gala happen to be on my little sisters camera, which she took over a friend's sleepover tonight. (Of course) So I'll post the rest whenever she gets home this weekend. Here are two [crapily] scanned pics of two pages from the Fred and George book:

And I got my package today too, which was awesome timing!

I got an purse with an adorable golden heart snitch and the word "seeker" on it and two really nifty bracelets with Harry's and Draco's initials on them (I have no idea how they're made but they're amazing) and a drawing of Harry and Draco sharing a rather intimate moment =) This is why I swap lol

Link to the drawing because there are people out there who would manage to wig out over this, I'm sure:

58  Steve Irwin Quilts are Completed! in Quilting: Discussion and Questions by RougeRaven on: September 11, 2006 07:57:43 AM
And the quilts are completed!

After a couple of months of messy managing on my part, lots of awesomely talented crafters came together and created beautiful quilt squares in memory of Steve Irwin, the late croc hunter. The crazy talented Pam volunteered to piece the three blankets together. Terri, Bindi and Bob will each recieve their own dedication quilt. Below are photos of the first two quilts and the link to the photo album.

After a ten month wait, I finally had a swap angel (Cinderly- who rocks, by the way) make me a package for the Harry Potter Swap Round 4. And it was awesome! I recieved:

2 puppets- Ron and Snape (!)
Hufflepuff greeting cards
a Potterpen notebook
catmint witch hat for my cat Angel
and a photo frame with the words "I solemnly swear I am up to no good" on it

At last, the photos:

with his darkmark!

I just got my package from Barb (Yawningyak)! You know when you have swap anxiety because you're scared your craft won't match the caliber of your swap partner's? Yeah. Turns out my fears were correct lol.

The purse is black with a beaded rose on the front. The photo doesn't do it justice because the flash bounces off the seed beads. The different petals are outlined in clear beads, but they have hints of different colors in them. Complete with a zipper, the inside is lined with a pink and red flower and vine pattern on black. Gah! I love it!
