1  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Fabric Storage Ideas on: March 21, 2010 08:44:23 PM
I did the same thing with the comic book boards on a bookcase. It is one of my favorite things ever to look and see all my fabrics displayed. It is very inspiring and makes planing projects very convenient.
2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Garden Gnome Quilted Wall-Hanging (1st completed quilt!) on: March 21, 2010 08:38:28 PM
My name is Molly and I have a problem, I'm a fabric hoarder. I particularly love Heather Ross' fabric lines and when she released some of her out of print gnomes through Spoonflower I had to buy some in every color.

Since, I new my first instinct would be to save, save, save them; I made myself start cutting! I have been teaching myself how to quilt for a few months now, but I had not yet finished anything. I wanted something nice and quick that would show off the prints and since the colors also matched an empty wall in my living room a wall-hanging seemed the perfect thing.

I used some other fabrics from my stash and indulged my love of all things pink and girly.

Here is a close-up of the really bad first-timers attempt at free-motion quilting.

Here it is filling an empty wall in my living room!

Thanks for looking!

Great job. I can't believe the amount of work it must take to hand quilt a queen size!

So bright and cheery for a little one. I love pieced backings. I think they add something special.

Yay! Don't you feel virtuous doing it the right way? I love the pirate theme and fabrics you chose.

Gorgeous. I think it has a nautical vibe with the colors you chose. Perfect for a little guy!
8  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Selvage Quilts on: March 21, 2010 08:31:43 PM
I am in love with selvage quilts. The colors are so fabulous. I'm kicking myself for all the selvages I have thrown away over the years.
