So excited to see what everyone crafted for this swap!!

Until packages start arriving and we have goodies to look at, I figured I would put us in an It's Always Sunny mood by sharing mine and my boyfriend's Halloween costumes. We went as Margaret and Liam McPoyle.

The beautiful drawn-in uni-brow got lots of stares but people who were actual fans of the show all thought our costumes were great. And we ran into TWO different greenmen that night.

4  Rockin' record display in Completed Projects by KelseyLauren on: August 29, 2010 04:13:27 PM
My boyfriend is a bit of a musicphile so I bought him a record player for his birthday since his philosophy is that vinyl always sounds better and more authentic. His dad then gave us all of his old records which are just sitting in a pile beneath the player. Some of the album covers had great art so I tried to figure out a way to display them but also keep them protected and usable. I had looked online for something I could purchase and didn't find anything so I thought for a while and and voila! This is my solution!

(excuse the crappy flash flare)

I used a lightweight plastic that I found at JoAnne's similar to a shower curtain and then created pockets for the records. The pocket openings are facing the wall so it looks streamlined and like the records are trapped in the plastic but the records can still be easily removed.

I folded the top so that it could handle the weight and added grommets for hanging. As you can see though the plastic is sagging a little bit since the stitch was straight.

Here is a close-up of the zigzag stitch I used

And another angle.

I'm happy with the way it turned out and my boyfriend loves it too. It has a few flaws here and there but it gives it personality.

5  Re: hoodie + tutorial [image heavy] in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by KelseyLauren on: August 22, 2010 07:22:01 PM
Amazing tutorial especially for a beginner like me. This was my first big clothing project and I think it turned out pretty well except for a few little mistakes. I'm rather proud of myself! I had never used a zipper before and it wasn't all that difficult. Thanks so much!

I used a teal and white small houndstooth print but it's hard to tell in the photos

6  Re: Cupcake Swap Round 2 *ding ding* in The Swap Gallery by KelseyLauren on: June 30, 2010 02:03:43 PM
I received from vdbonnett yesterday but between work and celebrating my boyfriend's birthday I wasn't able to post until now...

But holey moley did she nail it!!! I love, love, love, love, love everything! It is so cute and so me!!! I can't wait to bake up some yummy cupcakes and use everything she sent!!!!

Here is all of the goodies in the entire package Smiley

This mat is this most amazing thing! vdbonnet made "yarn" out of a sheet which she dyed and crocheted. I'm sure this took FOREVER to make. But I love it so much and it makes me happy Smiley

These potholders are so adorable!!! I want to hug them! haha

This is probably my favorite thing she sent. It's a cupcake serving tray which she painted with cupcake goodness!

And these are the fun little extras. Sorry about the terrible pic.

Thank you so much vdbonnett! This was such a great swap!

7  Paul Bunyan and friends in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by KelseyLauren on: March 25, 2010 11:48:21 AM
In honor of March being national craft month I decided to finally make something of my own instead of drooling all over everyone else's creations!

I made lumberjack puppets to use in a video shortly. A puppet stage is my next project. After that I'll most likely give them to a friend's kids to use.

All 5 only took me around 6 or so hours to make.

Materials used:
   Puppet pattern found online
   several different colored felt squares
   1/4 yard of 4 different lumberjack-patterned fabrics
   1/4 yard brown fur fabric
   1.5 yards of black elastic
   Old pair of denim jeans
   brown yarn
   Aluminum foil
   Glue gun
   pack of googly eyes
   blue ribbon
   small buttons
   black marker

They stand 11 inches tall and their arm span is 9 inches.

I still need to put some mouths on a few of them but I'm undecided what I want to use or what they should look like. Any ideas?
Here are some more photos of the process and a few details as well as the back.
